With the Fifth Pick... Dante Exum

This. Vonleh, Gordon, or Randle would have been a huge buzzkill. Woj tweeting that ORL was taking Gordon at #4 made my night.

I was OK with taking Gordon as he specializes in a much needed talent for Utah. Defense. Kid is a nightmare on that end. But I am very excited to see what this new team can do.

Favors, Kanter, Gobert, Hood, Burks, Burke and Exum (only including young, signed talent) are an exciting group to watch. As well as the new head coach and staff. Big year for Utah's future.

How mad are all of Exum's sponorships that he went to Utah? Dude was probably the most marketable personality in the draft and he went to Utah. Footlocker so mad.
Footlocker, Sprint, Red Bull and Adidas (I think that's his shoe) are all getting ready for a possible hit.

Haha, I gotta admit I got such a rush of adrenaline when Gordon went 4th, I knew Exum was the pick after that. by the time the selection was made I was on my feet and let out a primordial roar.

Also before the 23rd pick i was chanting rodney hood at the tv (i was pretty buzzed).

Im a huge football fan and follow the draft pretty thoroughly (not like Basketball though) when Adrian Peterson fell to my Vikings at 5, honestly i was jumping up and down and clapping, screaming like a madman, I think my reaction last night was almost on par with that.
Did I tell you I'm a Vikings fan too? I have to admit that I'm excited about the Bridgewater pick up.

If nothing else, this pick rekindled the dying ember that was my caring about the NBA. The only pick the Jazz have ever made that made me more excited was when they drafted Karl Malone.

I've never seen the kid play a second of basketball, outside of highlights on youtube and draft shows but when I read the things about him from established NBA "experts", it was hard to not be intrigued. When the Jazz got the 5th pick and I had heard all the stories about there being four possible franchise players, that almost doused the ember. Sorry but I just couldn't work up the excitement for Aaron Gordon, Noah Vonleh, Julius Randle, etc. but when I saw on Twitter that Orlando was taking Gordon, that turned the disappointment into sincere jubilation.

I am actually excited for the season to begin. I know the team will suck again, but I hope that with a new coach in place and an exciting rookie, that by the end of the season they will be a decent team.

Okay. I like the Exum pick now. If YB's happy, everybody's happy.

They have to be pissed but Dante is smart for signing his contracts ahead of time, Seeing him on the commercials of the draft was great. Im trying to find the details for his contact with Adidas, from what i can remember it was pretty big. It was said there was a bidding war from the Shoe companies over him.

Hes also got a deal with an Italian Trading Card company, Panini

Utah's playstyle will be very marketable as most basketball fans start liking how the Spurs move the ball and fastbreaks are always cool.

So as soon as Utah makes the playoffs the first time, his market value is on par with big markets. Just like KD makes good money off the court and Tim Duncan always had the opportunity to do that.

Assuming there are clauses in these kind of contracts that pay out higher if they go to a big market. I can just see all of the CEO's from those companies having a draft party and just throwing beer at the TV after Utah picked him.

Rob(ber) Pelinka doing what he does best.

Ever since the Finals I have actually noticed this in the gym at my school. Whenever there is a ton of ball movement on a possession people start calling out "that spurs basketball" or something like that referencing the Spurs. It's actually pretty cool.

I'd love to see their reaction.

Australia's small, but a solid market. These endorsements will surely still pay off in international markets. And though I doubt he can reach LeBron-like marketing with the Jazz, the Thunder comparison is really apt. His play will dictate how much of that he's able to capitalize...
