Rumor: Jazz prepared to match 'any offer' for Hayward.

I like Gordon, but if someone offers his a max deal and the Jazz match, it's going to be like AK all over again. How many guys who should be third options on a team are getting max money in the NBA?

not even remotely similar to ak. the salary structure is way different. AK was like 30% of the salary cap at the end of his deal. Hayward at best with get the 4 year mini max, which will cap at about 16 million on a much larger salary cap. You are comparing apples and oranges.

Maybe I should have expounded a bit more. My point is that the Jazz overpaid for AK, and if they match a max deal on Hayward they will be doing the same. In both cases it limits spending on other free agents/RFA's. Hayward does not deserve max money, period.

As Snoop from The Wire once said, "Deserve got nothin' to do with it."

Due diligence. Saying this helps drive down the interest other teams have.

This will be interesting. .

I don't think any team out there is dumb enough to give him max, and we already offered 10 per. Which team wants to even waste their time knowing that we will do what we always do, which is wait the full time allowed before matching.

What happens if doesn't get any offers? Do we re offer the 10 per, or does he take the qualifying offer?

So at this point, would you guys rather have Gordon Hayward or Eric Gordon? Pretty crazy that Eric Gordon got the max and has not really played since. If you look at it that way, a max deal for Hayward looks like a good deal. I am not advocating the max for Hayward, but the point that he is a reliable player is worth something. He will probably not miss time, and while his ceiling is somewhat lower than Eric Gordon's, he is nowhere near as poutty.
