Rumor: Jazz prepared to match 'any offer' for Hayward.

David Locke should be Haywards agent. The guy just spews Gordon love every chance he gets. He keeps repeating that no other player besides Maravich has averaged 16, 5, & 5. Those are terrible numbers if you considered the amount of touches he got last year. There is no way he will get those numbers going forward. How can you give a huge contract to someone who is going to average less than 14 ppg.

I disagree. I listen to Locke's podcast every day. I find him to be pretty honest and open in his evaluations of Jazz players.

Parsons averaged like 19ppg in the 9 games Harden missed last year. Clearly hes a better shooter than Hayward

Hayward is more versatile (though Parsons is well above average at SF, with 4 assists per), Gordon looks to dribble more.
Parsons looks to shoot. The Jazz dont NEED Haywards playmaking anymore though, they have other viable options.

9 games is a small sample. Do you think he'd keep up that production over 82 games?

Ariza is 29. Hayward is 24. By the time Jazz need somebody at that position to be really good, Ariza will be out of the league.

What about Defense?

Whos guarding the best offensive player on the other team with the way the roster is constructed currently?

Mike Harris was guarding Kevin Durant to start the season last year..

you're ok with that?

Call me crazy but I think the Jazz have a deficiency in perimeter defense, the stats affirm this.

Many wanted to target a Defensive minded Forward at pick #5.

He just turned 29, days ago. A 3 year deal is fine, he just had his best year and would be the only player on the Jazz with championship experience.

41% from 3 on 5.7 attempts, he'd lead the Jazz in steals, and brings plenty of toughness.

Yes, 9 games is a small sample. Yet others argue that Hayward's performance over the last 82 games is an outlier. Hayward isn't the answer to this team's woes and he shouldn't be paid like he is. He is a very good role player, so pay him like a role player and not as a future all-star.

sarcasm and hyperbole

I don't quite follow the logic asserting that if the Millers give Lucas and Clarke max deals it won't have any bearing on wins or losses. I can't see any realistic or even half-baked scenario in which this is the case. Am I being thick, or is a very, very questionable assertion?

Look at context, it was in response to the proposition that fans have no business being concerned about how much money the Millers spend on players. It is irrelevant to us and none of our business. I was using sarcasm and hyperbole to reply to this proposition. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

Hayward looking to dribble more may have been a product of coaching though. Snyder is going to want to space the floor more and get up more shots.

Hayward is going to have his best year thus far next year.

DraftExpress is doing FA videos for the top FA in this year's class. Surely they will do one on Hayward and Ariza. Will be interesting to see what he says. I hope we can get both and trade Burks for assets.

Short-term solution to a long-range problem. Renting Ariza for three years is a complete waste of time and resources.

Criticizing Hayward's ability to dribble penetrate and pass off the dribble is beyond idiotic considering the Spurs just won the Championship and the Jazz just hired a Spur's offspring. I am sure it is not lost on DL and QS that Hayward has a bit of Manu in his DNA.

I don't think ole Gordo is going to be told to go stand in the corner and wait for the ball and hoist up jumpers.

leave burks alone

go and watch oj mayo's milwakee and a gordon's orlando

Yes. Thats why id rather have him than Hayward :P

47% FG's and 37% from 3 > 41% and 30%

Hayward shot the %'s of a guy who's shooting coach left the team.. no?
"whose"

Or he shot like a guy being asked to do everything, including cooking team meals. Before last season, Gordon had averages of 45%/40%. There's a reason he gets invited to US national team basketball camps. WE undervalue him and are quick to throw him away after a tough season. There are a LOT of teams who would love to have Gordon aboard. And I'm going to venture a guess that Snyder's ball motion, up-tempo offense will be more suited to Hayward's game than Corbin's YMCA pick-up game system.
