What's new

Dante Exum will win the Rookie of the Year.

You need a ton of minutes to win ROY. Minutes and a green light. Parker is going to have both. Exum may have neither. Poor bet if you ask me. Besides, you are betting on your home team player, gonna be hard to be objective doing that.

But, if you enjoy throwing 50 bucks away supporting Exum, that's fine with me.
The jazz are not pgab home team

On 1280, Chris Sheridan just called Exum a "Mensa" player with the highest IQ of any player in the NBA. Exum is going to get 25-30 minutes a game, book it.

I thought i heard him say highest iq of anyone in the draft, not the nba

Sucker's bet

I called the Trey Burke odds that last year. Time shall tell. (I had Oladipo last year)

It's nothing more than a prop bet, I dont take it seriously. I always like to speculate on the Rookie of the Year, I've won it a few times in the past, Exum would be the best odds ive pulled off but, oh well.

I haven't ruled out betting on Parker also.. I just wanted this thread to be about Exum's RoY chances

Once i bet on the Devil Rays to win the world series preseason at 250:1 in '08 on the strength of their pitching and they got to the world series on like a 20million dollar budget, they didn't win but it was still one of my favorite bets ever. If Exum is close to the RoY and loses by a smaller margin ill take solace with that.

This mental fortitude is mentioned in the Simmons/ Ford podcast from another thread...

Whats that supposed to mean? I dont root for any NY teams whatsoever. The only game i went to last year was when the Jazz came to town.
It means that you dont live in utah (the jazz home) and you are not a true jazz fan. (You had said that if certain players were picked in the draft that you would just follow another team)

Exum is very very very smart. I picked up on it a few weeks ago when I was hearing rumors of him being drafted 2nd and 3rd. I rewatched a bunch of his interviews after reading about the psych testing, and i thought what i saw confirmed those reports, he seems to have a hyper-awareness about him but hes also cool and confident.

Ill eventually get around to posting the stuff in the Exum Footage thread i started.

Well i wouldn't be here in the first place if certain players didn't get drafted here. I dont see how its all that much different.

Im a Vikings fan, have been since im 10, I watch every game, go to all the games when they visit the area, am i not a true Vikings fan either because im not from Minnesota?

I put my money where my mouth is. I bet on Utah all the time, at well above a 50% clip.

one thing he has going for him is he has been rigorously training with a renowned NBA trainer (Tim Grover - Kobe, MJ, DWade, etc) for the last half year while everyone else was studying for midterms.

If you're projected a top 5 pick coming out of high school. I don't know why you wouldn't just do this. "Go to class" and be subject to the lunacy in the NCAA or go workout on your own as much as you want and get endorsements when you want. Seems like a simple decision.

idc whether you like the Jazz or not or how much of a fan you are or anything, but you have to see somewhat of a difference between you and basically everyone else on the board who have been Jazz fans their entire lives

When did I ever insinuate that I was a Die hard fan, or a life long fan, never. You already know the deal, basically posters take pop shots at me here, snarky off topic comments like gossiping women, or they attempt to argue with me by sensationalizing old posts, to tailor fit their weak arguments.

This is another prime example.

Im rooting for an underdog, Im not an Americas team Dallas Cowboys bandwagon fan. Its funny to see people go after me instead of the posts im making though. Ha

I dont think you need to be a diehard fan to be a fan. But I never understood just following a team because it has a player you like. There's too much cognitive dissonance there for me. That said, the only issues I have with you is your taste in music.

This is an example of what? You said you see no difference between your "fanhood" and that of others. I say that there is maybe a difference, def at least in the level of emotional attachment to the team, and now you say this.

I'm thoroughly confused, but w/e

Wasn't insulting you in the slightest. Just disagreeing with something you said

Quite frankly I dont give a **** about what you guys think of my fanhood... Its not something Id ever think to talk about or bring up. Its laughable to me. Cheers.

I watch all the games, SL included, screaming at the TV, you think i give a **** about your thoughts on my status as a fan? LOL.

The only reason I said I was leaving If Gordon was drafted, is because it was the truth. I wouldnt hang around like AKMVP and give negs. I didnt intend for that post to be a point of discussion it was just an explanation on why my posts will stop and they would have.

Now its also a fact that im a huge basketball fan in general, i stay up to date on basketball topics on a Highschool, College, International and NBA level on a daily basis. Ill definitely admit to being a bigger basketball fan than a Jazz fan, no doubt about it. I like College basketball almost as much as the NBA though too, Im sure if i lived in Russia id enjoy the super league though, Im not all that picky.
