Only by renouncing the rights to Kanter and Burks. IINM, that would put the Jazz around $50-$51M in payroll, giving the Jazz $13-16M, depending on what the cap is.

I should have clarified... I meant as we march toward '17/'18.

Got it.

I'm taking my info off Sham Sports, so someone please correct me if I've calculated incorrectly.

For '15/'16, Jazz will actually be around $70M after the draft including cap holds for Kanter and Burks and their pick(s), and Evans (FA), Booker and Felix (non-guaranteed contracts). Those last three can be dropped if needed, freeing up about $9M, still not enough to go after a significant free agent (Jazz would be around $60M in salaries and holds at that point). However, Kanter's cap hold is $11.4M and Burks hold is $7.6M so the Jazz COULD add a free agent by also renouncing one or the other.

Heading into 17/18, Jazz have Favors, Exum and Hood locked up. Hayward has a player option, so he probably opts out and looks for a max deal as a 7-yr player. Jazz may/may not have Kanter and/or Burks and Burke and Gobert will have cap holds in place. So yes, perhaps some salary flexibility at that point. But they'll likely need to add a free agent before matching an offer for Gobert. I think Rudy is going to get a HUGE offer.

Who are we going to miss out on next season as a free agent? If Love plays out his contract, Jazz can still offer him a max deal. Did Utah have a shot at Carmelo, Lebron, Bosh, or Gasol this year? Jazz had a ton of cap space available.

No one is knocking on Utah's door. MAYBE, just MAYBE if Exum turns into a superstar, Utah can attract another player. But probably not. That was part of Deron's frustration. Utah went to the WC Finals and he still couldn't get anyone to join him.

The jazz were capped out back then. Plus, they got pretty good free agents in Booz and memo. What type of idiot leaves lebrons team to come play with the jazz though? Booz was crazy.
