The "real" reason Ray Rice only got 2 game suspension!

look i was not there.
dont know how bad she abused him.

but assuming it was bad, it learns her and us a valuable lessons. sometimes there are consequences to our actions. sometimes those consequences are harsher than we deserve.

....excellent observation! A longer suspension would have hurt her as much as it hurt Rice! They made up and got married, I understand. SO money out of his pocket would be money out of her pocket, true or false?

Who cares. The message the NFL is sending is that a violent crime against a women, where she gets knocked out unconscious, is not a serious offense in the NFL. You're better off beating a woman than smoking weed in the NFL, at least as far as penalties are concerned. The players now know this, and some other poor woman might get beat up if some violent jackass knows the penalty will be light.

I can see two sides to this story. On one hand, the penalty should have been greater and what rice did was unnecessary.

Otoh, I hate hearing everyone saying that it's never ok to hit a woman and making women out there think it's ok to hit or kick a man whenever they want because men will never defend themselves.

I was at a party and a girl punched this dude in the face cause they were talking trash to each other and she could dish out the trash talk but couldn't take it so she punched him in the face and he just took it and then she hit him again when she realized he wouldn't hit back. I bear hugged her and pulled her away and when I let her go she took a couple swings at me. (Didn't land any)

The dudes lip was busted and bloody and the girl was walking around talking **** about how she whooped his *** and acting all arrogant.

There was no consequence for her actions whatsoever.
I think a lot of women have the attitude that if a man ever pisses them off then it's ok to physically attack them with no worry that any harm will come to them

The American aversion to hitting women does play into this. But it is not any more acceptable, to me at least, for a woman to hit a man.

The same sexism that downplays women being beaten in private will prevent them from being beaten publicly.

...post of the year....especially on this topic and subject!

This is a systemic thing. Just look at the difference in sentences handed down for things like teachers having sex with students. Female teacher and 14 year old male student? A few years probation for the teacher, maybe. Male teacher and 14 year old female student? 2 decades in prison for the teacher. Definitely this is all out of whack.

Question. Are men, no matter who they are, responsible for there actions? Answer? Yes! Are women, no matter who they are, responsible for there actions? Yes! SO, if a woman assaults a man either out of meanest, provocation, dislike, hatred, loss of temper, loss of self-control, name calling, etc.... then is she responsible for her actions???

Sure she's responsible. But what is the appropriate reaction? Why not just shoot her and claim you were in fear of your life?
I think Rice could have pushed her away. Then again, that's exactly what I did when my hot-tempered, now ex-wife started hitting me over some silly ****. I pushed her away - rather hard, but with open hands. I didn't hit her in retaliation, I didn't knock her out or drag her by the hair. I pushed her away and then turned to leave. Had she come up swinging, I would have pushed her again and exited our apartment. Sorry, but unless a woman comes at me with a weapon and/or is built like a linebacker, there is simply no reason to EVER hit a woman.

Lets hope Ronda rousey never attacks you.
I would lol watching you try to simply push her away

Holy Cow - I was hoping in my heart of hearts that Rice's chick was going girl crazy on his *** and he knocked her out in self defense. But not only did he hit her first, he hit her with a left while she was holding a cell phone in her right hand.

Not much you spin that you put on this video.

Wow, after watching this, if Bernard Pierce didn't have such a pathetic first game, I'd strongly consider cutting Rice from my Fantasy Football team.

Nothing truly embodies taking action on outrage more than threatening to release a guy from a FANTASY team.

Now that the Ravens cut him from their ACTUAL roster, you might have the courage to release from your fantasy team now.

I wonder if any team will be stupid enough to pick him up.

Are The Ravens really going to try to pretend like they didn't know this video existed to begin with? Apparently Goodell had access to this video as well and still gave him only 2 games - what the hell is up with that? Meanwhile Josh Gordon had half a puff of second hand pot smoke in his system and he gets a full season.

To answer your question, yes, he will play again. I'd say there is a 50-75% chance that someone picks him up this season - And 100% chance he's on someone's pre-season roster next year.

Goodell is claiming that they did not have this video and that no one had seen it.

Actually I see Rice was just suspended indefinitely - so forget about playing this season.

Even still, there are maybe 6 or 7 dependable RB's in the world - I still say it's extremely likely that Rice plays NFL football again.

Why didn't you or this guy call the cops? There certainly are consequences for punching someone in the face in front of witnesses, it's called assault. If no one called the cops that's on those unwilling to do anything about it. You let her off the hook.

Now, if you're saying there were no physical consequences for her actions, well there shouldn't be. Ever. And that goes for if she was a dude as well.

The only things injured in this situation was the dudes lip and his ego. She was allowed to act this way by those who were unwilling to hold her accountable.

It's never ok for a woman to be physically violent with anyone. No one would ever make the assertion that it is ok. No one here has said women should be able to beat up men. Nope, no one. I have no idea where people are getting this.

Some meat heads need to get it through their thick ****ing skulls that hurting people, men or woman, is ****ing cowardly and wrong. There are obvious exceptions, but getting your ego hurt is not one of them.
