yes yes..."faux" news, get over it.

Basically a guy in an Afghan army uniform opened fire on a base and killed an American General. He also wounded 15 others. Half of the wounded were Americans and included a German Brigadier General and two Afghanistan Generals.

High value targets that time. Maybe this will provide the spark needed to finally bring all of our people home.

Yep, we need to bring them home so they know that if they are persistent and kill the right people then we do what they want us to do.

They should have already been brought home, never should have even stayed. I do not care what the terrorists think of our actions.

Sure they should have been, but they weren't. They were still there for whatever reason, so now we have to act rationally. Capitulating to terrorists is not rational. Retaliating may be an option. But to simply up and do exactly what they want you to do as a direct result to their violent behavior will do nothing but show them that the violent behavior works exactly as they want it to, so it should be emulated around the world. To ignore that is just plain ridiculous. This is the exact reason why we do not capitulate to kidnappings and beheadings. If we did they would grow exponentially.

If you want to look at it that way then fine. I am not even using anything the terrorists say or want in my decision making. I want the armed forces hom simply because they should be home. I do not care how a terrorist views that.

I want our soldiers home becuase they shouldn't be there. Terrorists are going to, as they have shown countless times over the last decade, act violently wether the American military is there or not. Staying there to begin with was stupid. Contining to stay there is even worse.

We should have overthrown the Taliban and left.

I am not disagreeing with you at all. The problem is, every time we overthrow someone, some other crazy group would take its place (how we put Saddam in power). We were allies with the Taliban group when the Russians were attacking Afghanistan.

Honestly, the best thing we can do is help China and Russia become superpowers. It will help balance the hate among the different countries.

It is really awful when we are trying to train them and give them the opportunity to have stability.

In this case it is not even a different group. It is the Taliban trying to regain control. Let them and the Afghan people fight it out. If they come at us again then we turn their hideouts into parking lots.

You make a decent point but as stoked alluded to, it's not like the terrorists are gonna be like "well we tried using violence and the USA troops didn't leave so I guess we won't be violent to them anymore."

Whether we stay or leave they will continue to try to hurt Americans

Unfortunately our government did not take advice from the great Vizzini:

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders - The most famous of which is "never get involved in a land war in Asia" - but only slightly less well-known is this: "Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line"! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha...

Honestly, we should have learned that from the Russians.

Not to mention Vietnam or the Russian lesson in Afghanistan itself. Wars of occupation (as seen by the occupied populace) do not work. There will always be uprisings and violence against the foreign force.

"Go Wolverines!" anyone?

Yes, that is what I was referring to.

As far as Red Dawn, I just wish they didn't remake it. Hollywood needs some original scripts. The remake was not very good.
