Maidana will murder Mayweather the bitch inside ring

Mayweather ftw

Money Mayweather is the greatest boxer of this generation and it's not even debatable. Say whatever you want about the personal he portrays in front of the cameras and puts on social media for the public to see, but in the ring he has basically never been remotely touched. The last fight was the first time he EVER got cut in the ring and it was from an illegal headbutt or elbow (can't remember).

Can't wait til Mayweather destroys again, and retires undefeated and the best of all time just so all the haters like the OP can weep and piss about it.

Agreed.
He is never even challenged

De La Hoya past his prime challenged Mayweather. Won a round too IIRC.

An in-prime De La Hoya would've beaten him IMO.

totally meant to say like won a scoresheet. IE of the three judges scoring the fight, one said that De La Hoya won the fight.
Oh. I see.
If that's the case then ya, you are correct

Mayweather won by a split decision in 12 close fought rounds, capturing the World Boxing Council (WBC) title though some saw De La Hoya winning the fight due to outworking Mayweather. Judges Jerry Roth (115-113) and Chuck Giampa (116-112) scored the fight for Mayweather while judge Tom Kaczmarek had De La Hoya winning, 115-113.

From wikipedia.

Now imagine if he fought Oscar in his prime.

What do you think?

It didn't look like something that should have been scored a split decision to me.

I've seen the fight twice-- once live, once maybe two years back.

Mayweather was more accurate in terms of how many punches + power punches he landed-- so the stats say that Mayweather should have won unanimously.

If you watch the actual bout though, it's really really close, and there are certainly rounds where De La Hoya clearly wins. I would have scored it a draw-- if it was a 15rounder (like the good ol' days), Oscar would've won it I think.

Judge Jerry Roth scored the last round for Mayweather, the only judge to do so. Had he scored the twelfth for De La Hoya, the fight would have been a draw.

With all of this said, an in-prime De La Hoya would have beaten Floyd. At least IMO.

From ESPN:

Mayweather's estranged father also thought De La Hoya did enough to win.

"I thought Oscar won the fight on points, threw more punches and was more aggressive," said Floyd Mayweather Sr., who used to train De La Hoya. "My son had good defense and caught a lot of his punches, but I still thought Oscar pressed enough to win the fight."
