So my wife is on birth control, has one ovary and I just got a vasectomy 2 weeks ago. Well guess what. We just found out she pregnant...little ******** are bionic or something...oy vey

Oh God. Hahahahaha.

But srsly, congrats. In 10-20 years time, you won't even be able to imagine a world without your child. Here's to a health pregnancy, a healthy birth, and to a healthy child.

You do realize she was likely pregnant BEFORE your vasectomy, right?

But yeah, that whole birth control and one ovary thing, well, that's a bitch.

Yes I do. I included it to show how dedicated to the idea of no more kids. Like we were forever removing the possibility. Guess God likes jokes...

Not to pull a Shooter McGavin and "get a little personal with ya", but had you waited the appropriate period of time and gone back to check that you you were infertile? The reason I ask is because I have heard too many instances of guys with a vasectomy getting their wife pregnant after that operation. I'm contemplating getting one, so I'm trying to get the low down lest I slip up. Congrats on the rugrat though! I concur with Dalamon about being unable to imagine life without the kid, but like you, I have got to the point that we have enough offspring. A double-Decker buss shouldn't be required to go on a Sunday drive.

Are you guys going to consider aborting? Sounds like neither of you want a kid.

Since the operation was two weeks ago, and the waiting period is about 6 months, obviously not.

I get tested at 3 months. But that is why she was already on BC. She has been on it since the last my 1 1/2 year old was born. This was so she could get off BC after I was tested and found to be sterile.

Not to mention there were two operations during that time so its not like it was a frequent thing. Just meant to be I guess.

Permaban for idiocy.

Maybe my sarcasm detector is broken or I can't understand English, but the post implied that. I wasn't trying to be contentious but it is an option for unwanted pregnancies depending on how early into the term it is.

Got ya. I can think of a lot of things in this world more horrible than a healthy child; I have four. I'm sure you guys are on board already. Good luck and congrats!

I think he is pointing out that only an idiot doesn't know that it is an "option", so stating that is not helpful in anyway. Indeed, if someone isn't down with the idea of abortion, it can be horrendously offensive and grotesque. Politically, I waffle back and forth, but abortion is one thing for which I have never understood the arguments. I won't turn this into a debate on abortion, but try to understand that it is a tinderbox of a subject and probably not what you tell a stranger for the purposes of "providing information." Just a suggestion.
