He was a bruiser in Europe because he could bully guys and just score. In the NBA he really struggled doing that. He could do what Marc Gasol is doing but he's smaller and he's not as good defensively.

1. Kanter didn't play much against grown men in Europe. His decent play came in U-16s and U-18s IIRC.

2. The biggest difference between Gasol and Kanter is BBIQ/feel for the game. Kanter doesn't have any; Gasol is one of the smartest/most natural basketball players on the planet.

Yeah in U-16s and U-18s he was simply bigger than most boys his age and seemed to score at will. Even if he's as smart as Gasol I don't think he is good enough defensively to play the pivot in the NBA.

If it's not smarts/feel, what makes Gasol a better defender than Kanter? As far as I can tell, Kanter's physical tools are at least on par with Gasol's.

Gasol's size is a huge advantage over Kanter on defense too GVC, stop being a dick. It's not the only reason, but it plays a factor. Gasol is ****ing mammoth and it helps him protect the paint and guard opposing big men.
