I never watched Kobe play his first year in the league, so I don't know what his game was like. Exum seems nothing like Kobe to me though.
Guys I am excited about Exum but he isn't close to being a Kobe which isn't a bad thing. What makes Bryant great is his belief that no one can guard him. I call it arrogance. I don't see that in Exum but I do see some moves that Exum makes that seem Kobe-ish but Exum does not have the jumping ability of a young Kobe nor does he have the array of offensive moves that Kobe has.
I am glad he doesn't have the selfishness of Kobe. Making a poll this early in his career smells of homerism.

I think he has more Magic in him than either Penny or Kobe. Tall, thin, gangly like the young Magic who likes to throw the oops ... that was something Magic was doing in college, if you recall.
Exactly. I saw Kobe live twice vs. the Jazz in 1996/97 and his confidence was unwavering even in the face of huge adversity. He got panned a lot that year for being overly confident even when his shot wasn't falling. But everyone knew it was just a matter of time before he would become an all-time great. I don't think you can say that about Exum.
