The Official 2014/15 Tank Watch thread

What about it?

Haha... beginning to think this team is no where near ready to challenge for the playoffs... talent is there (albeit raw), but the mental side is definitely not there yet to make it.

We'll probably win 10-20 more games, but yeah I think we'll fade soon after the All Stars break..

GS tried to keep their pick, but that had nothing to do with tanking. Their strategy from the very beginning was shoot for playoffs, but once that falls through, try to keep your pick. It was talked about on this board before the season started, and played out exactly as predicted. The timing may have been convenient for your theory, but you still can't explain an accidental win over a Denver team that was absolutely playing to win.

This.

One win. No team is going to lose 30 straight games (well, maybe Philly this season). You single out the win against Denver which was a couple of weeks before the season ended. Sorry, but I watched the 4th quarter of almost every single W's game after the trade deadline. There were very intentional coaching moves designed to "tank" on the court. There were players comically throwing the ball out of bounds - and the other players and coach smiling and dancing on the sideline. There were even thinly veiled comments from the team owner about tanking. But also credit the FO for trading for an injured center in exchange for Ellis and making Curry sit out the remainder of the season.

Not all players are going to be "in" on the tank. There are guys playing for their NBA lives. Case in point was the W's win against Minnesota in their 3rd to last game that year. It broke an 8 game losing streak. Was that evidence the team wasn't tanking? Ummm, I actually watched a lot of that game. I know, I was masochistic back then cheering for the W's to lose (just as I did in watching Knicks games when we had their pick). Minnesota went stone cold and the D-Leaguers and bench players for Golden State couldn't miss, led by Charles Jenkins.

So.... about that tank.

Lol.
I almost bumped this thread after the Chicago game but decided to wait for the results from the game at OKC.
Looking good with the 8th worst record. And you have to figure OKC will make a move up the standings once Westbrook and Durant return. Also believe NYK and Charlotte should be better than Utah.

This is the type of season I wanted us to have last year: many close losses, with the core5 starting, players showing potential, but a weak bench just not giving Utah a chance to win against the better teams. Jazz still need more talent. I hope we can get a top-8 pick (if not top-5).

I dunno about you guys but it's starting to feel like i'll enjoy each game much more knowing we're tanking and not really trying to win.

Looks like another top 5 pick coming our way. Book(er) it!!!!

I hate you!
I was going to wait until after the game to bump this thread. I guess down 19 at halftime is reason enough.
It's clear the Jazz need another stud. Hopefully Utah can get one with a top-5 pick.

Need PG, PF and wing.
1. Maybe Trey and a 2nd will get a veteran PG who can start until Exum is ready (he is such a long ways away right now).
2. Looks like PF/C is pretty deep in the draft.
3. Depending on who is available in free agency or via trade, consider moving Hayward back to SG and Alec to 6th man.

At the deadline:
Trade Booker to a contender for a late first. Try to do the same with Enes.

Still think Hood will be a decent backup. Trade Booker to a contender for a late first. Try to do the same with Enes.

I dunno about you but I've got my heart set on Karl Towns this year.

Karl Towns to Salt (Lake) Town!!!!

Just like last season, I'm not even dreaming about a top-3 pick. Philly has the worst record locked up. And teams like Detroit, Charlotte, Minnesota and the Lakers are really bad. So not getting hopes up for Okafor or Towns. I'm looking at the next level down (4-8).

With this loss the Jazz move into the 7th pick. The 3 players slotted around this spot are:

Hezonja
Porzingis
Johnson
