This teams defense stinks

I understand why Trey is being blamed for our defensive **** storm, but I honestly thought he played pretty decent defense last night (specifically in the first half) despite the huge game Lowry had. Our overall team defense, for the most part, was doing the right things. Toronto out played us, plain and simple. They have a lot of talent. They're the best team in the east for a reason.

Toronto was constantly getting wide-open 3's because of their guards penetration, much of it by Trey's man. And if they didn't pass out to the open man, they just shot right over Trey, time and again with little resistance from him. There have been other PGs a lot smaller than Trey who have held their own. Muggsy Bogues, all 5-3, was a great defensive player. He would get right up on a guy and stay right in front of him, and if his man didn't protect the ball, Muggsy would take it away.

Burke is short, has little vertical hops, slow laterally, no defensive nous and is lazy. He is getting killed by opposing PGs and the rest of our defense is then screwed. Worst of all is his sulky self absorbed demeanor.

Thanks for all your feedback. Hopefully this slowly improves. I hope the future it is Exum, Burks, Hayward, Favors, Gobert. I think that can be a pretty good defensive team.

On the bright side, we're positioning ourselves to draft a helluva prospect. Certainly would rather have a top-5 pick than finish #12 or so. And remember schedule strength, The EC teams have to play each other. Just like last year, the bottom dwellers should pick up a few wins against each other. Jazz have only Minny and the Lakers in the WC who are equally inept.

I'm not going to make too much of the record so far, Jazz have had a really tough schedule to start (currently ranked 5th on ESPN and 2nd here https://www.teamrankings.com/nba/ranking/schedule-strength-by-other). They also are a very young team that will only improve throughout the season. They will continue to have a tough schedule being in the West, but probably end somewhere around 8-10 though (there are 4 teams tied at 6 in number of wins at 5). I think they'll need lottery luck to have a higher draft pick this year.

So far Utah has had 2 games (Detroit and OKC) at home against teams with losing records.
