No official news from the Jazz, but via report from @FisolaNYDN, sounds like Alec Burks could miss the rest of the season. Stay tuned.

Noooooooooooooo!

Glad he got his money first. That sucks short term for the Jazz but could be better for the team long term.

The tank is on.

10 million ouches.

Time for Exum
Doesn't his new contract kick in next year? So it's only a $3 million loss for this year. Depending on how serious his injury is, I hope they just address it now and get him back healthy for next year. This should give both Hood and Exum a little more burn this season, which will help their development and team chemistry. It'll be interesting to see how Hood in particular, responds. There's no doubt that he adds shooting to the lineup. I'm curious to see how he looks with the starting unit and with more minutes.

So much for doctor/patient confidentiality.

Doctors, agents, family members, etc. Its almost impossible to keep a lid on these types of things with professional athletes. It's sports reporters jobs to track down information, and way too many people who are willing to talk about it.

Damn. That sucks

If it's his labrum - it's a no brainer (especially in lieu of extension) to get surgery now and rehab rather than risk ****ing it up permanently by playing this season. It looks like the season is already a lost cause in terms of making the playoffs, so as much as I want to cry about my favorite Jazz man having a potential breakout season delayed, it is better for his career if he opts for surgery.

Gotta be kidding me, one of my favorite players in the team. I wish him a quick recovery. Rookies, it's your time...

My biggest issue is that it'll set back the timeframe for him to really get comfortable in Quin's system. The most important thing is that he gets and stays healthy for when the Jazz (hopefully) can put the pieces in place to contend in the West. That's not going to be for a couple of years (at best) so it's better to fix it now, than to wait and have it get worse or heap prize his season for next year. Like Enes with his shoulder, injuries like this that require surgery need time to heal properly and build strength back up.

Great post.

Hopefully there will be an established team when he comes back to kill it as our 6th man, where we know he flourishes.

Haha - let's wait for something to be confirmed before we put him on the IR. I know he was great as a 6th man, but he's a starter and has to be for us to be successful - at least with our current roster.

wait was this when afflalo smacked him? sucks to get an injury like that..... dammit. i was just waiting for burks to start piecing things together in this new offense
