Jazz vs. Knickerbockers 1/12/10 @ 7:00 p.m. MST

No, I try to imagine something else for at least 5-10 minutes, and then an image of Bill Murray pops in my head and BAM - clam chowder everywhere.

Well, for all of you who cried your eyes out that we didn't keep Wesley Mathews....big Wes shot a sizzling 2-13 last night against the Knicks. He is consistent, I guess. One good game, one bad game.
You all love him when he does that for the Blazers, but if he were doing that for the jazz, you would all be whining the same way you whine about Al Jefferson

Actually, Wes have been pretty bad at FG percentage and shot selections recently. His efficiency has regressed, I know because I have him on my fantasy team. c'mon Wes. One thing about love and hatred towards a player is that you cannot make everybody happy and everynight. I have yet to see such a player. Wes has taken advantage of Portland's being shorthanded for the most part of the season. He plays more, shoots more, is given green light to shoot, drive anytime because he and Batum are the only ones who can theoretically replace what BRoy had been able to bring to the table. The recent decrease in his stats is driven by both the respect and attention he started to get from defenses and the tiredness. Also, the fact that coach McMillan finally decided to make Alridge the focal point of the offense might have an effect on it.

David Locke:

Wesley Matthews numbers this year - per minute #'s all about same and percentages shooting all down. Role change not player change

Jazz win by +15. Book it.

They look good from the tip, and play the most complete game we've seen from them in a while at home.

Alright. lets get em. We have played horribly with long layoffs, but hopefully they practiced well and Okur will not hurt the team. Knicks not really a good matchup for him. Turiaf about the only guy who actually plays for the Knicks that he could guard.

If they bring the Shiite game they are capable of lately my Jazz hat with the new emblem is in danger of getting between a foot and a flat spot.

i'm going to watch the knicks broadcast. i can't wait to hear the vitriolic bitterness and envy when (if?) Gordon checks into the game and they are finally confronted with what they could have had.

I like their broadcasting crew. Walt Fraizer is humble and his costumes are hilarious. I do not think they will envy Gordon. Fields fits well in D'antoni's system.

David Locke (twitter):

Amare Stoudamire has shot 63% in his career when playing Al Jefferson. Jefferson averages 22/12 v. Amare

Brian Smith (twitter):

Jazz's Williams said Okur looked OK during last two practices. Obviously still not 100 percent.
Jazz's Sloan said Utah will use same starting five vs. Knicks. ... Jazz will attempt to work Okur back into rotation.

Bagley:

Memo said he'll play about 5 minutes in the first half. Doesn't want to talk about day to day any more, just wants to play.

An interesting stat from HP Basketball:

"15 players have 100 or more post defensive possessions. Top 5 in PPP (fewest points): Varejao, M. Gasol, Al Jefferson, Pau, Chandler"
