Jazz at Kings - 8 PM Mountain Time

Hayward played a great floor game tonight. He played good man defense most of the night (at the end got worse because he was overplaying to try to force steals), got his teammates involved, got out in transition, made a lot of steals, and got to the FT line. He basically did everything you would want out of your 1st option but he just had a bad shooting night. His floor game was #1 option worthy vs. a top 5 SF in the game.

I don't think he can carry this team even with a #2 to anything more than bottom of the playoffs, never in the top 4. If that is your end game then yes he is a #1.

Burke and Kanter have been very disappointing on defense. I dont see the light at the end of the tunnel, but we have all year to find out.

You also thought Hayward couldn't do what he is doing now.

1st play of the game was a post up to Favors if I recall correctly.

didn't see the early going, what else did they run after that ?

How long will it be before coach realises he has a pathetic jumpshooting team and changes the offense to suit ??

True. He's exceeded a lot of peoples expectations. However Hayward still has inconsistent shooting, free throws, and questionable leadership skills. All of this has to be taken into consideration.

lol

Hayward has a couple of games were he misses both FT's in a FT trip and all of the sudden he has questionable FT shooting. Career 81% FT shooter. That number isn't getting worse.

Pair Hayward with a PG who has a better drive/kick game and he would be a much better 1st option. Hayward has been going back to last year's Hayward where he has to do everything on the court for this team to win and he has to do it every minute he is on the court.

Hes missed too many crucial free throws this year in tight games. Only a homer would deny that. His leadership and questionable shooting you dont touch because you know its true.

So how good do you think we could be with Hayward and a #2?

The same two things I griped about in the last game are still happening....terrible starts (although to be fair they played a hell of a first quarter, they cant seem to play a hell of a first half ever though) and atrocious FT shooting. Once again if they hit all their FTs they win this game. If they hit just half of what they missed they are at least have a shot in the last minute.
