Gobert--when can we extend him?

I think he will be extended after next season, right? I thought it was an option for the fourth year on first rounders contracts? Anyway, he will probably get the max.

Anyone who doesn't understand that Gobert WILL get the max simply doesn't have an opinion worth hearing.

My bad. Damn.

I was thinking about it earlier. If Gobert could be extended this season, it might have been our best chance to get him for a little below max. However, going by market value, Gobert very likely would get max offers at the end of THIS season. He's already an elite defender, and he's improving at an astounding rate. Even with modest development curve, he'd be worth it.

Edit: I know he can't. Just speaking hypothetically.

There's absolutely no doubt Rudy will get the max. Utah won't bother letting Rudy go to FA to let the market determine his value. He will get max extension.

I'm amazed of how unanimous our opinion is on a Jazz player. Can't remember such thing for a long time.

Why, isn't the max the Jazz can offer more than what other teams can offer? I get the Jazz may want to extend him and get the extra fifth year, but letting the market set his value doesn't make them pay any more if he's going to get the Max regardless. This isn't Hayward who would have extended for 12 per then ended up getting max.

Edit: For the record, I have only been able to see a few games, so I haven't been able to see the impact that he has had. I'm just saying that hypothetically if he is going to get the max either way there is no harm for the Jazz to wait, financially, but they may want to do it to show good faith in him.
