Our biggest weakness

Passing.

We lead the league (by far) in passes and yet we're dead last in the Western Conference in assists. I think that's pretty telling.

We want to be the Spurs but we just don't have the personnel to be them. Ironically the Dubs do. Bogut and Green up front are elite passing big men. And we know Curry is and Thompson as well. Are Favors and Gobert ever going to have a lot of games with 4-5 assists per night? I love these guys but ultimately is our ceiling going to be severely limited because they just don't have innate passing instincts? Because for me personally, true passing isn't really something you can teach.

Gobert is averaging 3.3 assists over the last 3. Along with 2 spg over the last 3. If this new development holds (his passing is way better than it was in even early January) then that's 1 elite passing big.

Let's re-check this after another 7-9 games...10-12 is a solid little sample size. But I think my point's a valid one. We don't have guys who just inherently know how to pass and when our guys do pass, there is not any sort of crispness to it. Some of our awful passing with its' lack of crispness and awkwardness boggles my mind.

Oh I agree that your point is valid. I am just saying that if Gobert maintains the numbers he has over the last 3 then we will have seen him become an very good (I'll change it from elite) passing big. Yes he needs to continue it for more than 3 games. But with the way Gobert is playing and his attitude and drive I would be surprised if he doesn't.

To be fair, a lot of our passes are those ones out top that aren't intended to lead to a shot, just setting up the offense. And
Gobert is showing some real flair for passing.

Our biggest weakness is lack of offensive talent. Our endless passes to no where is just a byproduct of that weakness. Players are getting the ball and they just can't do anything with it.

During the Bulls game the Chicago play-by-play guy nailed it: The Jazz execute well on offense they just don't have players who can score.

Actually our biggest weakness may be leadership, aka having players who can be ballsy, vocal leaders.

Possibly Gobert as well. At least defensively. I've seen him out there pointing players to their spot and literally pushing Kanter lol.

No way.

We lack shooting. Hard to get an assist when you are constantly passing out to wide open 3 point shooters who either pass up shots or miss shots.

Also, our wing play is just pathetic. How many fast breaks have we ****ed up lately because one of our wings can finish or get fouled other than Hayward?

We just don't have that much talent right now.

Favors has been playing great as of late, Hayward is good, and Rudy is getting better and I love his game, but he doesn't add a lot outside of defense most games. Burke is good at running the offense, but he's an average player at best, and we're starting Joe Ingles. Joe Ingles. Kanter is good offensively, but he's also a blackhole. Our bench is beyond putrid. Exum hardly looks like a basketball player most games. We just don't have talent.
