Kanter traded to OKC

Remember the "distant" 1st round pick we had from NY that turned into G Time? 1st round picks are very valuable. DL plays the long game.

Even if this is better than getting nothing, it's still a bad trade. Absolutely terrible value. I'm not sure what DL was thinking here, but he screwed this one up.

If they had decided they weren't going to bring him back this makes a lot of sense. I think it's pretty clear that's what they figured - rather have him out of here than try to make trades for the next year while he's on the QO eating cap.

Someone also fill me in on why we're getting excited about free agents because of this move. How has anything changed? Renounce Kanter and we're in the same situation. The only thing we've lost is the ability to use Kanter as a bargaining piece. Buy high (trading Deron) and sell low (for "cap space"?)

So wrong. We can offer a max to a player on July 1st now.

The more I learn about the trade the worse it gets. Next year with all the exposure kanter gets in OKC your going to hear talk of most improved player. All kanter has to do in OKC is rebound and he will be considered great.

He's going to miss Utah...

That's when he was 'Bull Kanter', the only one I've liked, then he got weird after his shoulder injury, mentally unstable.

Oh come on man... that's ridiculous. Your hate of this management is insane... We got a pretty good deal in the situation we were put into...

I couldn't disagree with you more. The only thing worse was simply cutting Kanter. What the Jazz essentially did was trade for a low probability of getting a quality player some time in the future, since that is exactly what late 1st and 2nd round picks are.

So we would have done the same thing, but now we have picks too. Also we got rid of Novak's contract. Sooo. WE ARE GOING FOR LEBRON!!!

Kanter was really undervalued by most fans on this board. I think he is going to surprise a lot of people with how well he can do with OKC. A post player that has wing shooters will open up the game and actually give him someone to pass to if he gets doubled. Kanter put the Jazz in a tough position, but I think the trade was not good. I would rather roll the dice and try to keep him. Even if we lost him, it would be worth the risk compared to what we got in trade. Hopefully we can get a FA acquisition that propels us forward. Or maybe Tomic is ready to come play.

My guess is his shooting percentages go up, he defense looks better and he averages 2-3 assists a game for the rest of the year.
