Max Out Matthews?

Full rebuild for SAS doesn't necessarily mean not matching Leonard - it more than likely means letting Duncan and Ginobli retire and then dumping Diaw - that's 25+ mil right there..

This... there is no way they don't match... dude sounds like he'll be a spur for life.

I'm not going to go through the thread, but has anyone explained why they think the Spurs will match Leonard? They're losing their stars, and pop is likely gone. It would make sense that they'll go full rebuild. If that is the case, would Leonard be interested in joining the Jazz? Or is he more likely to go to a contender?

Word is, they would have maxed him this year, but they are going to try to sign Gasol this offseason to replace Duncan. In order to do this, they will need free cash. Then, they will either max Leonard or work something out. It's a wink, wink type of thing and Leonard is on board with it.

It's amusing how we've all gone from Hayward at $12mm no way in hell to sure hell yeah make it happen for Kawhi at even more $$$. They're pretty similar in value with Hayward probably worth a few more bucks (both then and now). Funny how a few months can change perceptions.

I think a part of it is knowing that the salary cap is going up. We didn't know that during Hayward's negotiations.

The real test will be during Hayward's next extension. I think a lot of the same people will come out of the woodwork!

Is it amazing? I'd expect more information to change people's perspectives.

This is silly. Who cares what Kanter and his agent said? We set a precedent where we show everyone that they don't wear the pants. We're not taking less value back for you just because you want to be a whiny bitch. Be a whiny bitch all you want, but by damn you're still our bitch and you don't move until we say so, so STFU.

Look, it was a difficult situation where none of our options were very good. Utah could have held on to him and hoped to get better value in the offseason, but it really wasn't likely to improve. Before we start declaring this a major failure, what say we wait and see what happens with Enes. I'm guessing he will be unhappy in OKC and he'll either take the QO or he'll get a ridiculous offer. Once this all plays out, Jazz fans may be counting their blessings that we got some value, rather than continuing to play Enes ahead of Rudy only to be faced with matching a stupid offer. At the very least, we should all be glad that Rudy is no longer getting hosed out of the starting spot he deserves. He's the guy we want to keep happy.

But what about the tank?

Utah could have traded for a player that helps us win now, and they didn't go that route. To me, that speaks for itself. Rudy is likely to **** up the tank, but we're still in it for now. For those posters who scoff at the importance of draft picks, our next pick just became even more crucial to the rebuild, now that we no longer have Enes as a potential trade chip.

I think full rebuild for San antonio means them signing lamarcus Aldridge or Marc gasol to play with parker and kawhi. The Spurs are t going anywhere.
