I've been wrong about labeling Police officers as pigs

I apologize to anyone on this message board who has been offended by me referring to police officers as pigs. They're very courageous, and certainly honorable.

There are a lot of bad examples highlighted in the news but every so often the media decides to profile the good boys in blue. Great to see the group be able to handle a situation without civilian death.

Unless there are some very compelling facts that are yet to be released, the behavior of these police officers is disgusting. Especially the first one throwing the punches because he caused this situation to escalate. Hopefully justice will be served. I believe he should lose his job and serve jail time.

It is also unfortunate that you appear to hold the same sort of biases against police officers as you are suggesting the bad police officers hold against black people. Wouldn't it be better if the officers reacted to these sorts of situations without regard to race? Wouldn't it be better if you reacted to these situations without regard to an anti- police officer bias? Do you honestly believe that all police officers are bad?

I can't believe we didn't hear from HH after the incident with the guy escaping on a stolen horse. That was straight-up thuggery. The guy who got stomped was a chump, but that was a blatant beating after the guy gave up.

Interesting stuff. I'd heard about this study before but I'd forgotten it. I've never seen the video. I hope the presence of so many cameras (including body cameras which I believe police should be required to wear) will help to solve these sorts of problems. Unfortunately that might not be the case. NBA players, for example, obviously know that there are a lot of cameras on them and they still try to get away with crap all the time.

I strongly believe that HH's strategy of vilifying the police does more harm than good. Law enforcement is a requirement of civil society, so we've got to figure out ways to make law enforcement just.

Last February he said he had to take a break from his online career in order to do his job teaching some courses he would need to study while teaching, so maybe he still can't be bothered.

One thing, he took the right stand on the Mo rioting, supporting the police. What we have going on right now as a national movement is a deliberate attempt to attack our police in every way possible. Not to get all conspiratorial or anything, it's just some people don't get it. We could find "good" cause to criticize any element of our national society if we just focus on the bad we can find. I do think we have some bad cops, ignorant and self-centered individuals and maybe even small clusters of such. But the ones I know anything about, almost to a man, are decent and I depend upon them for a lot of things, like protection from lawless individuals, many of whom call cops perjoratives like "pigs".

Without the cops I know, I'd have to carry weapons everywhere, and maybe use them almost every day, like in the Old West movies. And even though it seems the movies show the good guys winning a lot, I don't think that's what real life would be like, really.

So I vote for having society with police.

Why do American coppers need guns in the first place? Take away guns from patrol coppers and these kids wont be getting killed. Problem solved. It works in UK and before you tell me we need coppers with guns well we had that in London too but they were specially trained forces that were called in for special circumstances. Thats why we dont have trigger happy cops killing people over selling **** or fleeing.

They aren't necessary. Every copper is trained to use guns but they all dont need them. We pick ours well and its mainly brutes who want to kick the **** out of people for a living. We let them do it too. If an American copper tried doing half of what ares get away with you guys would be up in arms. You people are weak when it comes to wallopin those who have it coming. Child abuse this, police state that. Are street patrol working the club shift on the weekends? **** theyre like bouncers with warrant cards waiting for an excuse to bust your skull. Kind of like Marti Gras police but thats an exception in America from my experiences.
