WTF..... I leave JazzFanz for just two years and now Dal is in The STG!!!!!!!

Congrats! You staying in Canada or coming to the US?

merci! I got into the school I did my undergrad in, University of Alberta.

Admission rates are tough in the Canadian schools, but it is *so much* cheaper and for this I'm mega grateful. The school is also in Edmonton.

Thanks for the congrats, y'all!!

I'm finally landed back in Canada, safe and sound, and I have a moment to talk about my trip (especially the Utah leg).

I landed there on Saturday, checked into my hotel, and maybe an hour later I met up with Siro. 4 hours honestly felt like 4 minutes. What an awesome, warm fella. Dude even helped me carry my overpriced groceries, and then drove me back to my hotel. Just a fantastic, intelligent human that I was honoured to finally meet.

The next day, Ron Mexico picked me up and drove us to Fish's en-route to our day hike. This was probably one of the highlights of my trip-- long scenic drive, hilariously dramatic hike (with momentarily lost expensive sunglasses, hiking through straight-bush for the first leg) and lots of chat about life, the Jazz, Jazzfanz, and so forth. We even went for a dip in the hot pots once we got to the top. Fish and Ron are two of the most nice individuals I've ever had the privilege of getting to know.

Sunday night I went to the Jazz game. Got myself a churro, made a Joe Jesus poster before the game (Game4), and enjoyed watching the only home game that the Jazz won in our entire postseason run this year. How weird is that!

Monday I grabbed my rental car, and drove down to the Geezy. PKM/Dr. Jones provided me his "casita" for me to crash at while I did some hiking in the nearby parks and stuff. I was only there for two nights, but it was just a total pleasure for me to meet Peeks and his fam. We have stayed in contact for eons, and he's always been incredibly supportive of me whenever I told him about my goals and aspirations in life, so it felt nice to finally connect with the dude in person. As you imagine (are you noticing the recurring theme?)-- incredible, incredible human. Also, his wife never once tried to convert me, which was disappointing. I was hoping for the full experience. Amazingly friendly wife and children too. Loved them all.

On Wednesday I started driving back to SLC, but I went through Provo and all the way to Park City (walked through the strips of stores there) before venturing back over to SLC. I'm glad i took this route, because my breath was absolutely taken away from the roads that I drove on. My gosh, some of the most beautiful roads are between that strip of Provo and Park City.

I jumped out of my car when I was in Provo just to walk around the downtown area a bit. I checked out one of the vintage stores, and threw a harmless flirt or two in with the cashier when I bought this patch at one of the vintage shops there (I try to collect patches). That was basically that, though.

I flew for New Orleans for the two weekends of the jazz festival on the Thursday, met up with two separate friends, and ate enough creole cuisine to last me a decade.

All in all, i think the entire trip out me down $2500CAD-- not too bad, but I'll be working all summer to pay it all off, lolz.

Honoured and forever thankful for all of you who played such a role in making my trip an unforgettable one. One million thank yous!

-Dal
