Trade Favors Before Long

I wouldn't touch Jabari at this point.

I would trade for him if its wasnt too much. Maybe they would go Monroe (who they wont re-sign and will lose for nothing) and Jabari for Burks and Favors. I think it would hurt us a little this year but you could put JJ starting and have Monroe and Udoh as the backup bigs.

Its a big risk for the Jazz but could pay off.

Big downside would be having Hood, Exum and Jabari as RFA. That puts the Jazz in a very scary position. All could get big offers and we could lose them or be forced to overpay all of them.

How many players have torn the same ACL twice? Danny Manning? I'm not optimistic that Jabari is going to be the same player.

I think he can recover just fine, he is young and the injury is very recoverable. I am not that high on him but he has potential still.

Josh Howard off the top of my head tore his twice. Bertans from the Spurs has torn his twice.

I would sign Jabari, but wouldn't touch him at anywhere near the max... would not trade anything of much value for him. you'd get his RFA rights, but if he gets a big multi year deal I'd be out fast.

It's not the same ACL. It's the same knee. But original ACL is debrided and removed during surgery and replaced either with patella, hamstring or quadriceps graft or less frequently with graft from cadaver. There is few reasons why replacement ACL fails - most common being technical failure during surgery when they drill tunnels for graft in wrong positions( mostly femoral tunnel).
When it comes to Parker's case we do not know what did they find during second surgery and how they fixed it but I would think he is certainly not risk free.

So they rush into a trade in December?

Pls, just think.
They do it now to avoid a circus in the summer. The Brook Lopez deal for Russell was quick and easy. There was little speculation which made it more painless. Once we pass the deadline, there will be endless rumors about the Lakers. They all will center around who they are targeting and how to dump Deng to get them.

Kuzma and Deng for expiring contracts is a good deal.

They arent doing that in December.

The Lakers dont evne know if they are getting Paul George after the OKC trade. They arent selling off anyone until they know.

With all the Bledsoe, Portis and Mirotic chatter out there, what about these two deals:

Bledsoe to Bucks
Favors and a 1st rounder from Bucks to Suns
Parker and Dellie to Jazz

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yavgd87q

Then

Neto and a 2nd rounder for Portis

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y95e6vug

We use Portis at PF until Parker comes back. Dellie is an upgrade over Neto at PG. Sure we have to pay Dellie, but he makes less than $10, he is a proven competitor and gives us much needed heart.

We need to gamble on Parker. He could be a great fit here for the long term.

With Favors upcoming contract, I'm sure the Jazz have gauged the market for him. You never know who's going to want out of their own situation in February. That might be the time to strike the deal

Portis isn't going anywhere, and if he is, it will take more than that to pry him away and he should be coming here.

Unless you've seen any evidence that the Bulls are looking at moving Portis, in which case you should probably provide it.

I think they may end up moving both guys. They are in a tough spot. Play Portia and the guy who broke another guys face wins the starting job. They won't get much for Mirotic... again move him and you move the guy that got beat down.

Move Portia and you are left with Mirotic who isn't as good as the guy you just took 7th but does similar things.

I think they definitely move one of them and I might just move both. I'd like to have Portis... I realize he fought a teammate but look at where the dude came from... he does not take ****. We need some of that if it was harnessed properly. Gobert provides some of that but I like Bobbys game and intensity. I think this will help him mature and he's still a talented dude.

Gritty stretch 4s that D up are a very rare breed and I can think of few things cooler than a Gobert and Portis tandem. Would LOVE to have Portis (who I am on record as having wanted in that draft at that time). That he ****ed up another player makes him even more appealing to me which is definitely ****ty and probably stupid buuut... *shrug*

To bad it was his own teammate.
