2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

My thoughts are that Memphis probably isnt getting enough back. Both those first are going to most likely be in the 20's. Washington probably needs to give something up besides Porter, like Satoransky.
For whatever it's worth, I posted it on realgm's trades board and it seems to be getting mixed reviews(good reviews for value, WAS fans not loving the direction, but that's supposedly their stated preference)... but a Memphis fan likes it and it looks like WAS fans dislike it the most.

I don't think we'll make a big move. First of all I don't see a possible trade that the other team would accept AND would entice DL enough that he would pull the trigger. Second, we are on a little winning streak. We all know Jazz management is notoriously trigger shy when things are going well. I don't buy into the idea that things have turned around and that we are back to being the contenders we were last year. I still think that we have significant issues. But I wouldn't be surprised if the front office doesnt see better options out there on the trade block and just tries to convince themselves everything is okay and stands pat.
But do you buy that the extremely tough early schedule played a huge part in our disappointing early season win loss record now?

Not only did he get punched... but he got punched and his teammates took the side of the puncher...

I don’t think he’s a cancer... I think he just isn’t as liked as Portis... I got the impression his **** talking went too far in that instance and that guys kinda thought he had it coming.

I don’t think it’s that big of a problem but just think maybe he’s just not as likeable... not that they can’t stand him... if that makes sense.

I think the trade has a lot of positives, but I just don't see that many pieces changing hands. And oddly enough, all 3 franchises are in win now mode which makes it hard for any of them to give up talent for equal talent.

I think any trade involving Memphis has to include Parsons and any trade involving Washington has to get them out of the luxury. Maybe that changes in the 11th hour of the trade deadline, but both teams seem to be keeping their main players for now.

I’m still watching the clippers... west is pretty aggressive and not afraid to make a move... if they decide to get something for Harris rather than letting him walk while they handle other business... there is a chance they do a Favs and a pick for him trade.

I must admit, the idea of Conley AND Gasol to the Jazz really intrigues me - it would be an exremely coragious- and risky- move but the benefits could be astronomical, as long as we didn’t give up too much. But the message would be clear: We want to win now. Rudy/Gasol/Ingles/DM/Conley looks very good to me.

I think Gasol has it in him to take it up another level with us. And so does Conley for that matter. Quin and our coaching staff would be tremendous for these guys.

I might be way off here, but I think we legitimately contend for a championship with those guys. What would we have to give? Favors/Rubio/Exum/1st?

I agree. We need the Clippers to keep sliding.

Gasol and Rudy would be horrendous together

Gasol and Rudy would be horrendous together

That would be an extremely slow frontcourt which is the opposite of where the NBA is headed. I don't really want Gasol and we would probably have to give up too much for an injury prone Conely. In my opinion, what we need is a stretch 4 like an Otto Porter and I think we have the right peices to trade for him.

My current wish list:

#1 - Tobias Harris
#2 - Justise Winslow
#3 - Otto Porter

Trade for Winslow: (Not including drafter picks)

The trade for Tobias won't happen since the Clippers are in competition with the Jazz for a playoff spot. I do like Winslow a lot as well as Porter.

Good list.
I know beal doesnt make your list but would he be #1 on that list if he were get-able?

Where would you rank brogdon?

I would put Beal #1 because he is under contract the next couple years and I think he fits next to Donovan.

Brogson isn't on my list because I don't think there is any reason for the Bucks to trade him for anything we would trade.

I think Winslow is only possible if we can get Miami off of the contracts of Olynyk and Waiters. And if we can get them out of the luxury, even better. We need a 3rd team.

The Clippers keep their first rounder if they miss the playoffs. They have lost 5 straight. If they keep losing and Harris shows any sign of maybe not staying this summer, I think West might trade him. The pipe dream for West doesn't include Harris so losing him for a 1st isn't the end of the world.

We could offer Favors and Exum for Beal and the salaries would match up but then we would be pretty shallow inside and I doubt Washing would accept. That's why I believe Otto Porter would be the best option. Still has 3 years on his contract like Beal but he can be a SF/PF combo and we would have a really good stretch 4 which this team needs IMO.

Favors is so damn underrated here and is on a great contract with a team option for next year. No way we are giving him up + a pick for a half year rental of Harris or Mirotec who are unrestricted free agents this offseason.

I guarantee that the Jazz are getting calls on Favors. They aren't going to give him away for peanuts.

What is the underrated aspect of Favors game? Serious question.

Being a really good dude doesn’t make you an underrated basketball player.
