2019 Trade Deadline Discussion

He has PO next year?
No. He signed 3-yr/$9M deal on Thursday, July 21, 2016. So his contract officially expires on Jul this year. Thats what I've been saying. A really gettable option with tremendous upside. Can replace Rubio and instantly make us better right now.

Can we trade Favors during the draft?

It's before his option in early July so I imagine we can but I'm not positive. We could take on salary and use our pick as part of the deal. I see that being the best time to maximize Favors.

Conley's asking price was wayyy too high. Im glad we didnt pull the trigger.

Tobias Harris's trade price was wayyy too high. Im glad we didnt pull the trigger.

Mirotic's trade price was wayyy too high. Im glad we didnt pull the trigger.

I dont think we could have gotten Porter or Jabari for anything reasonable. Im glad we didnt pull the trigger.

There really wasnt a trade to make. Good job not caving for a bad deal DL and the Jazz. We arent desperate to make a move so we shouldnt act like it. We have a good team and plenty of options going forward to make a move.

There is some debate. Unguaranteed deals you can’t trade... some thought because it’s a team option it is different... I don’t think it can because there is no additional guaranteed salary. We could excercise the option then trade him.

He crushed it in the final months and into the playoffs last season. We don't make it past OKC without his stellar play.
I remember it the same way you do. I'm curious though what his "crushed it" numbers actually looked like.

There's a realistic path to the WCF this season for this team if they can avoid the Warriors. Nobody else is a juggernaut, unlike last season. Y'all need to calm the hell down.

You make it sound like there is no other team capable of beating the Jazz. Denver, OKC, Portland, San Antonio, Houston are all capable of beating us in the first round. Houston is starting to play like they did last year and they still aren't even healthy. They made us look like a lotto team. Except for SA, all the other teams are better than last year and the Jazz are slightly worse then they were last year. Jazz have not addressed their glaring weakness. They have one player who can create his own shot. The team is limited offensively in a league that has become more offense-oriented.

Really thought something would happen this year, there were so many pieces available that fit. What we all learned for sure is the Jazz simply do not do deadline deals, maybe 1 in every 5 years. They don't believe in uprooting someones family and disrupting chemistry.

At least no one else got better. Lakers ain't building a super team and after that **** show I'm not sure who would pick them over other good basketball situations.

Overall... if KD bolts for NY, GS should be vulnerable at that point. Waiting to swing for the fences in free agency is fine I guess. I hope we don't just run it back if we miss... don't spend another year doing the same thing and don't bank on 2020 FA (its a bad class supposedly). Shoot your shot.

None of that makes sense.

I mean, sure its possible, but I would say its not likely. The Jazz obviously wanted to upgrade Rubio today and where willing to give up Favors and and a pick to do so.

Okay if none of that makes sense then name some players who are upgrades to what we already have and that we can realistically sign this summer. Or tell me who we can trade for and how we complete the trade for a significant upgrade without Rubios contract involved.

I'm fairly certain we locked ourselves into this roster for the time being.

Those teams could beat us, but we could also beat them. Houston did beat us pretty bad last year but we were also quite injured and they were very healthy. We also still didnt get swept by them and kept it close in another game.

Thanks. His nonguaranteed deal with our pick could be very valuable during the draft.

I don't think we can use it. People are really down on this draft. Maybe we should have moved the pick for Niko or a different rental. As we get closer to the draft the pick could have more value I guess.
