US. OPEN at Pebble beach

I was in a filthy mood when I got to work yesterday but was welcomed with the news that one of our regulars died overnight and then 15 minutes into the shift went old school on an arsehole, improved my mood immensely.

nice mate ! awesome how someone else's misfortune can give one a lift !

Agreed. Why was it so boring this time round?! I couldn't put my finger on it. Just seems really boring.
OL it's the way the USGA insist on setting up US Open courses, rough shin deep barely off the fairway and greens. They're bloody minded about keeping the scores as high as possible, and eliminate any possiblity of players making bunches of birdies So the scores between the players don't fluctuate much over a round. Very different to the Masters where they place the pins on the final day to encourage as many birdies and changes in scores and therefore excitement as possible.

long time golfer dude.

the US Open is the worst big tournament of the year. There's no risk / reward strategy. Like on the final day at the masters, that course allows you the opportunity to shoot 65, or if you make a few mistakes being aggressive you might shoot 75 instead. US Opens the guys are just trying to mostly make pars and pick up the odd birdie or two along the way.

Strange that they would make it like that doesn't it?

There was a record amount of under par rounds for a us open. Just go look at all of the comments golfers had about the course and all the praise they had for the conditions and how the course played.
