Conley Officially a Jazzman

The biggest thing everyone is mad about is two picks in the 20’s?

Due to protections, the pick has to be 8-14 in 2020 and 2021. More than likely, we are a playoff team those years.

So it comes down to 2022 when it is top 6 protected. Does Rudy re-sign here in 2021? Is Donovan still good? Did Conley re-sign in 2021? Is he still good? Did we do anything else to build the roster? Is Favors done?

It is very possible that we aren't that great in 2021-22 due to the lack of youth because we keep trading away our draft picks.

That's exactly why Memphis didn't deal him at the deadline. Takes two to tango.

We had the 23 1st rounder + a 2nd on the table. It couldn't get the deal done. Memphis gambled they could get an extra 1st and they got it. It kind of sucks but hey, we still got an incredible player.
Everything I heard of why they didn't deal him at the deadline is because we wouldn't include exum

They are getting the pick in the year after Conley's contract is over and the year that is the double draft(the first year the highschoolers enter the draft). In essence they get the pick when we will be weakest AND the draft will be strongest.
Why will we be weak? We will still have Mitchell, hopefully Gobert, and tons of cap space.

People keep talking about Conley like he's a 20+ ppg guy. He WAS, and now we have to hope he still will be. However, the dude will be 32 years old when the season starts and has had injuries in his career. His production could drop off quick.

He was last year... literally the last time we saw him he was so pretty safe ****ing assumption no?

I thought the second FRP would be more protected, but Conley is really good
It's not just that it's not better protected - it's REVERSE protected. They get it if it's good. Otherwise they postpone it until the year after Conley's contract is over(the year we will be the weakest) and the year when the NBA will allow the highschoolers to enter the draft for the 1st time(when the draft will be the strongest - the double draft). That protection is a special kind of nasty bomb that noone in the media will talk about but will ultimately bite us in the ***.

Then there's the Zanik promotion to give him more "power" in FA negotiations. We can certain hope. This will be a nearly different team at the start of the season. I'm actually.... optimistic?

I'm optimistic if there are other moves coming. If we fill out the roster and bench with a bunch of Thabo, Jerekbo and Udoh types, it's like following a haymaker with a hug.

- #23 this year... whenever the other pick happens, it'll be a late pick.
- Jae was a chucker who was getting worse the habit. Tough guy, yeah, but not good enough.
- That's what risks are all about.
- There is absolutely no good intel that Conley leaves after just one year. Dude wants to win. Unless he gets picked up by a 'better' team than us (Warriors, Lakers, etc), it isn't happening.
He might not want to leave but still want to opt out and get us to give him another big contract to stay.

You think there's a chance Rudy turns down a supermax and leaves and Donovan might not be good in 3 more years? Come on, now you're just looking for reasons to complain.
