Mexican Hope

So it made the news in SLC last night. A lot of the establishment political honchos of Mexico turned out to show "solidarity" with the families of the massacre victims a few months ago. I got a video of it, but it's all in Spanish. Here's a Reuters report:

Here's one good thing everyone needs to realize about Trump. He has a lot of good sense about what is possible, and how to get it done. He has worked with the Mexican government for a new reality to be framed.

The Cartels, the gangs with the guns, have lost face even with Mexican politicians. Showing up at an event like that is a huge loss of face for the gangs. In the past, they would just shoot fools who did stuff like that.

Now the President, the military leaders, the governors, the mayors..... are all together standing up there.

It means there will be change.

It means that with Trump's border and immigration poliicies, the financial incentives for human trafficking and drug smuggling are being effectively countered, and the people who supported the gangs, or depended on them, are looking for some way out.

It means corrupt American politicians like Nancy Pelosi and the "sanctuary cities" advocates, are going to lose their incentives as well.

Some of the old former-LDS families in the area are VERY prosperous, as in having huge economic impact. The "colonies" have always effectively sought good relations with the Mexican government. And it's not just former Mormons, it's other religious groups including Mennonites and little enclaves of Norteanos (emigrants from the USA). It'd be a stretch to say "politically important", though.

But there are other things happening here, and Mexico is responding.

What’s your role in news from Mexico? I have connections there and worry about friends and associates across el país.

I have no "role" in the news.

yah, I have some family and friends too, but mostly I am ambitious. I see Mexico as a land of opportunity that has never been free the way the US has been, and there's opportunity there if you have the guts to do it. I don't think the gangs are a plus.
