What's new

What are you eating?

Mainly soda and occasional desserts like ice cream or candy if at the movies or something. I'd say mostly soda though.
Dropping soda, or at least limiting it, will help greatly. Even drinking diet is better, but I find limiting myself to maybe 1-2 a week works and no refills - what's in the cup is the drink.

Diet is 80% of losing weight - eat the right things, go for walks and you can make some great changes. You don't need rigorous cardio programs and expensive gym memberships that are going to burn you out quickly (not to mention that you try and exercise and do things you could do when you were a teen/in your 20's that your body simply can't recover from now).

I agree. To burn off the calories from a 44fl oz cup of soda it would be equivalent to a 5 mile walk. It's obviously a lot easier to cut out the soda than walk for 5 miles.

Honestly it was the sugar thing with drinks and cutting out a lot of eating out. Only eat at restaurants like 2 times a month now. So low sugar and salt intake and small workouts are doing the trick.

I knew that right when I saw the picture. Especially due to the orange sauce. (that **** is HOT!) I just ate there on tuesday this week lol.

We made hot pot at home last night. It was a lot of work and in the end I spent more than I would have if we went out for hot pot. It was good though, and fun, but I don't think it is going to be a regular thing for us.

I bought a divided pot for two kinds of broth and an induction cook top so we could heat it at the table. The induction cooker is awesome in general. It works best with my big cast iron pan. The pan heats up faster and gets much hotter than it does on my gas range.

I've got a before picture of the meal I've just got to find my phone and upload it.

Induction can get insanely hot. They use induction in industrial settings to both melt and heat-treat metals.

So as mentioned it cost more to buy all the stuff than to just go out for hot pot and that also comes with a lot less options unless you REALLY want to spend more than just going out.

You essentially cook the meat in the broth right then and there right? I’ve never done this but I definitely am intrigued by it.

Yeah, raw meat and fish get dunked in the boiling broth. A big part of it is custom making your own dipping sauce.

It's awesome! Most hot pot restaurants are AYCE so you can just keep requesting whatever items you want.
