What's new

Woj: Don to the Cavs for Markkanen, Agbaji, Sexton, three unprotected 1sts, two swaps, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Yeah, I think it was good to pass on it, but they were planning on getting Mitchell for the last 3 years. They teased the **** out of their fans.

Even though I agree it was a good pass for them, you can't hype that **** that much and not see it through because you were worried about giving up Quentin Grimes.
I just think the narrative is wonky. Its not like they saw the Cavs offer and had the chance to beat it and pass. They very likely would have tried to beat it. Ainge and JZ were done with their BS.

Rose also is given credit for being prudent and building long term around the kiddos... but he gave up a lotto pick for some ****** picks to offload salary of semi competent vets... he got a good vet on an okayish deal... like he is doing the very definition of treadmill ****. If you are looking for a star then make your lotto pick this year.

I think he literally got a little greedy... word is top 5 protections and Grimes were the holdups... not like he was prudent in saving draft capital... he would have had it encumbered but put semi-meaningless protections on it.

All he has done is take care of his own peeps... some of it worked out and they had one good season. Thibs and Rose are both gone in 2 years (not sure Donovan saves it for them). The narrative has gotten all kinds of weird though... like he folded when things got too rich... he got ****ing blindsided at the table.

His process definitely sucked.

Hindsight the Cavs seem so obvious. They are like TWolves East.

So lame that people on here are so preoccupied by the New York Knicks. Getting excited because they don't get Don? Who cares?

These picks look worse than the Wolves picks. Cleveland is very good and very young.

We are like a video game franchise now. Loaded with youth and picks expecting stars to emerge. Very presumptuous. We should have built around Don for a while. Colin is fine and all, but he seems like a Don without star appeal and ruthless playoff dominance potential.

I don't hate this overall. I'm more just disengaged. This makes me lose interest. At least there's no more ruthless, unjustified Don hate.

Maybe I'll get banned for this like I got banned twice before for bogus garbage.

I'm legit happy for both guys... I can root for both of them. Don to the Knicks would have made me root so hard against them. Think this works out for everyone... though I think Don bounces for Miami in a couple years. Ain't no way he goes to NY now after they had two chances to get him and whiffed.

The narrative being sold by Woj is telling you Rose thought he had more time and was ****ing around trying to get a discount. Now he's like "I definitely offered stuff in July way better than what Cavs did... even though none of the story is true at all."

It’s a little rough to consider that the Jazz could’ve closed on a stronger deal from NY in the end if Danny would’ve went back for a counter. I understand that maybe part of the offer was not going back to New York, but I’ve got a nagging feeling Ainge moved with such speed out of spite.

Closing on the big Lakers package is imperiled as a consequence. And yeah, two unprotected Knicks picks is probably actually better since they still wouldn’t have been very good and needed to get lucky to get the next star to take the next step.

Jazz were primed to get off to strong start after the draft this year with the Knicks and another 2023 pick, we obviously don’t get those.

I guess it’s time to do everything possible to top-out on the Lakers deal and find more ways to needle the Knicks for ****ing this.

The internet would tell you it was a meniscus tear if you asked it. So it is in either case way less serious, especially with how he approached treatment (do the repair surgery and sit rather than cut out the torn piece to get back sooner).
Sip was correct, it was his MCL, which is one of two meniscus in the knee (Medial or MCL and Lateral or LCL). I believe the MCL recovery is slightly easier than the LCL, and also more common.

Why covet more ‘23 picks over picks that can be assets any time over the next 5-7 years? I understand it’s a deep draft, but we already have 3 picks.

If we got another one or two from NY, we’d just have a bunch of mid to late first round picks as the only one with any real lottery potential is our own. And teams haven’t had success lately bundling later picks to trade up into the lottery.

So I think what happened here is Cavs made their best offer and basically told the Jazz they couldn't just shop it or use it as leverage. I just don't think the Cavs offer is there if we go to NY again and say "beat it!" You have to negotiate in good faith... not just for leverage. Cavs pulled out once already.

If you go to them and say give me everything and they say okay... then you should close the deal. I also think the sign and trade element complicates it a bit.

There is also a slight twinge of spite here for sure. Not just about the negotiation but everything surrounding the recruitment of Don. If some ******* messed with you for years then made a fair offer on your house... you might take a little less to give your house to someone else. That guys should also know that he may have to come with an above market price to atone for his BS.

Knicks Castanza'd this **** so hard.

Where are you getting this from?

"M" is for medial, not meniscus, “L” means ligament (cruciate [C] ligament in this case). Ligaments are connective tissue that connect bones (a structural REQUIREMENT for basic function), meniscus are padding on the insides of the knee.

I’m a little surprised the Cavs traded Markannen instead of Okoro. I know he has some upside still but Okoro hasn’t been very good.

Utah did and the Knicks retorted by stripping out the framework to something insultingly low, which has been par for the course with Rose. Sometimes it's best to take your business elsewhere when the other party isn't serious.

The Knicks maybe could have done better, but the Cavs package is far better than what the final offer was from New York.

The depth of a draft has a dramatic impact on the value of a mid-round pick and this one was supposed to be deep. Furthermore, I think that Knicks pick is lottery and maybe top-10.

Markkanen’s deal might be slightly negative, though. Markkanen’s fit was also comical due to how insane their big depth was.

He "offered" Mitchell Robinson as part of that supposed monster offer. Just don't look too deep into it... like... the fact that Mitchell Robinson was an unrestricted free agent at the time. How do you offer Mitchell Robinson Leon? Please enlighten us!

This is all spin trying to save face now so he can say "I offered a fair deal and it was even better than the final Cavs deal and they didn't want it". BS!

Oh it was called out early. Like if you gonna tell stories go ahead and tell ones that can't be debunked in 30 seconds. Its hilarious that it tries to save face but makes him look worse. Why put your players names out again.

Will be hilarious when NY makes a panic trade for Dame or Beal at some point.

Yep. Every single young player was in the media in variety of offers he supposedly offered for Mitchell. ALL OF THEM. Every single one of them. I wonder how good they all feel about it.
