Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

I just can’t wrap my head around getting the shortcut surgery. I just can’t.

I also can’t wrap my head around someone prognosticating concern about Sexton’s knee when he did the smart thing and being like “lmao Ball is fine” when he did the dumb thing ON TOP OF his previous spotty history.

I probably still do the trade just on the chance he can get back in TWO YEARS, but you don’t do it unless you’re prepared to allocate $70 million in cap for nothing. Like, does he need to have some **** pulled off a cadaver? That’s the kind of area this might go; sketchy or unproven practices.
If this last thing didn’t do the trick, then yeah, you CAN replace meniscus, but return to strenuous activity takes a year (and there’s always the risk that it doesn’t quite do the trick).

I don’t think any part of that aligns with the Bulls’ objectives.

Also it’s kind of funny the Lakers acting like those two picks should bet them a star or some ****. Those picks are very valuable but it cost Atlanta two unprotected picks, a swap, and another conditional first to get Murray. They also weren’t dumping a monster 1 deal that is onerous.

Caris Levert, Jerami Grant, Kevin Huerter… are all mid players that got 1 pick. Giving 3 mid players, saving them serious money is in the ball park of 2 picks. If Jazz are willing to throw in Vando then i think it’s definitely worth 2 picks.

There other option is to burn a **** ton of money this year on a play in team… provide a miserable experience, and burn a year of AD and Lebron… and for what? To have space? Are you trading an expiring AD and Lebron to rebuild when NO owns your pick in 24 or 25… they get to choose? Are you going to bottom out and preserve picks or try and push them all in for a star?

If the Lakers weren't willing to give up two firsts for Hield and Turner, are they really going to be willing to give them up for any combination of Jazz players?

The question I have is “Do the Jazz need both unprotected picks or does one pick (‘27 ideally) plus swaps get where you need to be value wise?

Unless the Jazz are getting a high upside young player on a rookie contract, the asset they should want most is that 2027 pick. Get creative with the rest of the deal if you have to. . .

I’d settle for an unprotected pick and an unprotected swap.

If it is just one unprotected from the Lakers, I'll take the Phoenix 24 pick for Bogey and part out the rest of the stuff separately, including the stuff (Jae Crowder) that we get back from Phoenix.

Without Bogey, Don, and Rudy on the team and with that opening schedule, I'm OK with being patient. The deals will show up and we just aren't going to be that good.

Lakers are letting teams drool over these picks so teams will give everything to have them. They are the ones that have a westbrook anchor around their neck with a team that cant get them to the promise land. They only have the 2 picks and thats it so they playing the picks up like guaranteed gold that they will never part with, and letting it playout until a team cant take it anymore and bites. Ainge is too smart to blink.

The other benefit you get from that is I feel like Beasley's value could really skyrocket (and I'm not interested in sending him in any deal but the Lakers deal RIGHT NOW because of the potential value of their draft stuff) and I can see an argument for just keeping him, too.

There are a surprising number of iterations where I think you can get in the range of fair value. Like, I think the 2 picks is totally fair to go from out of the playoffs to maybe in the Finals. If I'm a Lakers fan or someone in management, I'm going for a chance at a title and I really think they can do it with our guys (and I count Beverly here) as the connective tissue that can make it happen. Let's not forget that despite that they got the fortune of a weird year that gave AD mid-season rest, that team wasn't exactly brimming with awesome talent outside of he and Lebron in 2020. I think their top-end rotation with our dudes is honestly way better.

So I think 2 picks is close to 1 pick and 2 swaps if that is somehow more agreeable. But I might do it for 1 pick and one swap with the right conditions. There's also the '26 draft where the Lakers could conditionally keep (and trade) their pick, but could swap it either way. And with swaps, the options open up because you can dodge the Stepien rule with it.

TLDR; I think we're perfect partners, and part of that is the consideration that the Lakers can punt a little on the draft... assuming they retain some brand as a winner, and punting on this year I think legitimately puts that in jeopardy. Our players give them SO much optionality with how to move forward AND makes them a winner now. Conversely, what if they just clutch onto these picks and Westbrook, ****ing BOMB, and then they spend their cap space on role players because no max-level player wants to take less to go there, in part because their organization has so thoroughly demonstrated incredible ineptitude? Great work.

So: Our bag (of players) for their bag (of draft stuff). It's about as simple of a concept for a blockbuster as there is. No games.

Two picks from the Sun's for Bogey and JC maybe the way to go. If Chris gets injured and if Sarver/ownership situation gets worse, the Sun's could fall apart.

I'm not sure the Suns even have any interest in Clarkson, and if they do, they're almost certainly not giving up a first for him.

If Clarkson were dealt to Phoenix, it'd be part of a package else an expiring and a second or two. He just doesn't have that "lotto protected first" value for them.

Additional salary? Are we adding even more players?

I expect a pick is on the horizon too.

Woj says Bogey for Saben Lee (drafted 38th by us in 2020) and Olynyk. I don't quite get it.

What are we doing? I knew the Zeller signing was a sign we’d be taking an L.

I heard the Jazz might be trading Bogey to the Pistons or something.
