Draft Homers List 2023

Hawkins
Looking at it from a upside perspective, I think he is being missed on my most scouts. His translateable floor is all they see.
This is the most natural "Steph like" shooter in the past 10 drafts . The best part is he should be there at 9, since most orgs are dumb
I’m higher than most on him but slow that roll!!

Ya im surprised by how little discussion there is about Hawkins for the jazz at 16 in the draft thread. I hear about JHS, bufkin, bilal, and a handful of others but almost never a mention of Hawkins to the jazz at 16. He is the dude I want at 16.
It is pretty unlikely Hawkins falls past NOP or ATL at 14 and 15 even if 13 other selections slept on him.
In the end, his floor seems way to high to be missed on by the Pels or Hawks. If we want him it's at 9 or trading up to 10-13
Imagine Hawkins , Bilal and Agbaji as our wings

Add another vote for Coulibaly.

I don't think Whitmore falls past Detroit at 5.

Jazz can still pick a guard at 16 or even move up a few slots to potentially grab either JHS, Bufkin, or Wallace. Black might be the only one who gets taken in the top 10.

Ya it’s puzzling to me. Smooth athlete elite shooter, more than just a spot up shooter. And we have a need for him as we need better shooters if we want to make the playoffs.
He had his moment in the spotlight as the NCAA Champion and people got tired of talking about him and he had underwhelming combine measurements. Think he goes top 20 to a team that really wants a shooter, but I dont think he'd be a good pick for the Jazz. I dont think he has much upside out of his current skill-set and he needs an offense that will make good use of his skill-set (which I think is overlooked because the general assumption is that shooting is always an universal fit). It's kind of hard to say which teams would do that outside of the teams that already do it (like Golden State) because not many teams really employ shooters who get the majority of their offense off movement looks.

I do hope he goes to a team like Golden State though, because I think that would be an elite fit and he could really make an immediate impact if his defense is up to snuff.

My favorite realistic pick is Cason Wallace.

My favorite unrealistic but you never know or trade up: 1. Ausar or Whitmore. 2. J Walker

Absolutely NO: Gradey Dick

Liked in the beginning but no longer: Anthony Black

Mine is Cam Whitmore. I’d love to see the Jazz trade up for him.

Aside from Whitmore, I’m a big fan of a lot of the young wings/forwards this year. Walker, Hendricks, Couliably, Klintman, L. Miller and Sidy Cissoko are all guys that I like a lot.

what do you think we are doing with the Finnisher ? adding Hawkins to that would make defenses fall to their knees

So traditionally this has been like a "who do you like more than consensus" type of thing. I'm right at consensus with Hendricks, but I've been there since before the draft nerds arrived. I think Leonard Miller might be the guy I'm higher on than most. I will ride with Taylor I guess since I've been sitting shotgun there since early in the season.

Give me Tay Henny.

I love him too.. would be thrilled to take him at 16. I think he might be the obvious guy we look back on and were like "no duh that guy became and all star". I also think there is a chance he's a suped up Landry Shamet... I'd rather have Hawkins than Ochai personally. I like that it has gone real quiet for him... havent seen him on the workout circuit yet and that may heat up his stock again.

He's a movement shooter, but there's a reason there arent many movement shooters in the NBA. Even if you are absolutely elite at it, it's hard to make it consistent and you have to run your offense in a way that generates those looks. What's he going to do when the entire offense isnt centered around freeing him up? Will he just be a spot up shooter? Who can he guard w/ his thinner frame and underwhelming length? Can he do anything when he's run off the line?
