What's new

What are your "we'd have a ring IF" beliefs?

Two:

If Raja Bell had signed with Utah instead of Phoenix. We beat SA that year if we had a better wing defender and win the title that year.

If the FO wasn't absolute morons with Hayward. He is still around with Mitchell and Gobert, he probably never gets hurt and those three win a ton of games. The way the Jazz treated Hayward was absolutely ridiculous. And the FO was able to make Hayward the villain in all of it as well.

The third was mentioned by others as well: If Sloan would have had Stockton and Hornacek shoot threes. We were so far behind the times with this. Those Jazz teams had so much shooting ability and Sloan did nothing with it. Sure, Malone's scoring goes down 2-3 points, but if you get Hornacek and Stockton to 18-25 a night with threes...You can't stop that.

Ok I am the dinosaur in the room . I was at Bird-Magic final four and Jazz game one in 1979 so my thoughts go early franchise..

The poor return on Dantley trade may have taken a title away. The talent and depth Jazz had in 86-87 and the more renown 87-88 teams was excellent.

Tripucka and Benson gave them little to nothing. AD was still a league leading scorer .

Get a Kiki out of Portland or even more realistically good fit like a Paul Pressey + another player, you have enough.

Kareem was almost cooked by then.

If DM had even a slight bit of interest in playing defense in the playoffs of the 20-21 season. It would have been tough to beat Phoenix but that version of our team usually played well against Milwaukee.

Idk if DM playing defense meets the realistic qualifier though.
He was also on one leg by the 2nd round.

In 98, sweeping the Lakers in 4 games and then having a LONG wait to play the Bulls was a problem. We had too much time off and too much rust. I still think the 98 team was better than the Bulls, we just didnt play our best ball in the finals.
We ended up winning game 1 in OT. We should have been warmed up and the Bulls gassed after going 7 with the Pacers. What happened...

If Scott Norwood doesnt push that field goal ever so slightly to the right causing the franchise to be forever cursed. Oh wrong sport.
If Dan Marino had put the laces out.
