Jazz trade Fonteccio to Pistons for 2024 2nd

What a nasty, depressing trade. JFC...

I mean... the notion that we're suddenly "opening up minutes for Hendricks" is flat out BIZARRE. Smack in the middle of a playoff race!! The kid didn't even play when we were losing to all kinds of bottom dwellers and the season seemed to be going down the drain. Now is the time?? There was never any pressure to play Tech, he wasn't an investment. But the dude stayed ready, improved, and clawed his way to the starting lineup.

As I said earlier, Fontecchio became an actual asset. He's athletic, has a fantastic motor, can shoot and seems ready to accept any kind of role. I mean, you're not gonna resign a guy like that to fill out the roster after bringing in John Collins and his laughable monster contract??

Tech is a proven NBA player. The Italian kid is not, Knox is not, and the pick I'm not even gonna say anything about.

We just got worse. A lot worse. Please don't tell me Ainge has a "plan".

Yeah I think Brice is more ready for 3. Taylor works as Lauri's backup so if Olynyk gets traded we would see him more. So it is most likely Ochai and a few minutes from Brice we will see IMHO.

Collin Sexton and Kris Dunn's life just got infinitely harder now that their kick out option went from Simone, who can shoot from anywhere on the court, to Ochai.
This is what people don't get. Our spacing had improved a LOT and Tech was one of the main reasons. Him getting defensive attention allowed Lauri, Sexton, Dunn and Clarkson more freedom inside.

No it didn't. Ochai plays much better as a starter and this should help him snap out of the slump he has been stuck in with more opportunities. It's hard to snap out of a funk when a lot of time you are only getting a couple shots a game. Ideally we can get him around 5 spot up looks a game as well as a few in transition and cutting to the basket.

Now let's watch the Pistons try and trade Tec for a 1st rounder like they've been trying for Bogie.

Ochai is a much, much worse basketball player than Simone Fontecchio. He may end up toiling in the G-League.

So we parlayed a free agent signing into a high second round pick in a deep draft, a previous high second round pick, a long & athletic two with a nice stroke, who is stashed in Europe to develop.

How much cap space were we going to invest in Simone during the offseason? I doubt we would match anything over $5m over 3 years. Don’t be surprised if he gets offered $8/ 4.
