Honestly, I wouldn't trade Lauri. How easy is it to find a 7-ft, 50-40-88 guy who's athletic and likes living in the mountains? Jazz should hold their cards for now.
So much this! /\ Not many good players want to be here. Why let that go for young picks who probably won't like playing here.

The big question is do Lauri stay patient, it's his prime going on. Knowing Danny, he has no issues to also tank 25-26 bc of the OKC debt in the pick. IMO, if Jazz nails the 25 pick they need to either start being buyers next summer or sell Lauri. Nothing big moves necessary, but something to make the team good enough for fighting chance to enter playoffs. If I was Lauri, I'd put a line on three seasons of his prime in the tank, then ask out next summer, if the plan to tank just keeps going on

Demar to the Kings. That's one less potential destination for Lauri. And guys like Kuzma, Ingram and Randle are still on the market too. Unless Lauri pushes for a trade/Ainge gives out a huge discount, he's staying.

I don't know. May make it more likely. Kings might FOMO into Lauri.

Key thing for me is you talking about all the young guys with a lot of promise but no superstars. That’s what we need. I feel like we have guys that will be at or around what Markkanen are. But championships aren’t built around that. But the top 5-10 players. Trading Markkanen will bring us closer to that reality
I hate to tell you but there are no guarantees that we get a superstar even with a top 5 pick next year. I'm not willing to trade good players and suck for 5 years in the hopes of getting a "superstar." I'm OK following the New York path rather than trying to do the Philly process thing because I like watching basketball.

No one loves watching bball than me, but every day that goes by I see less and less how we build a championship team. After watching 90’s Jazz basketball decent don’t cut it anymore. I’d rather watch 20 years of lotto bball to win one championship than watch 45-50 win seasons with an out in the first or second round forever. That’s not entertaining in the least. And I’ve been doing this for the better part of 20 years. Maybe you’re fine with mediocrity, mediocrity is for losers and idiots. Unless we get a generational player, Markkanen ain’t doing ****!!!! And by the time the kids are good to go he will be done with his prime or just coming to the end then we back to square 1.

Doesn't this trade kill their cap space now, so they couldn't extend Lauri?

It feels like the Spurs are out of Lauri trade talks.
Just extend him next year. Doubt he’d leave a situation like that and they can go to 5 years if need be.

I don’t think Lauri is getting moved though.

Idiot. Chances are you have to be crazy lucky to get a generational player. And if you somehow do guess what ???? There’s 10 of them in the league. And you’re then still highly unlikely to win a championship. Do you really want to watch a Detroit scenario ?? Because there's prob way more chance of that than a magical run to a title.

I’d prefer to watch a well constructed team with young talent that improves steadily and take the chances that way. Lauri is barely entering what should be his prime, and things can change fairly quickly. You can’t just run out a team of 20 year olds.

Idiot

I’d rather go for it than stand pat and be average.
