What's new

It’s going to be a long boring but the year the jazz need.

Howard Beck nailed it when ranking the NBA teams for the coming year - Beck writes that the Jazz “might be the most confusing of all — a team that jettisoned its All-Stars (Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell) two years ago, isn’t good enough to make the playoffs, and isn’t bad enough to nab a high draft pick.”
The quality of that journalistic piece is perfectly illustrated by him having Wizards and Nets in the top tier, while simultaneously having Blazers in the bottom tier. I mean the Nets and Wizards are there for the "virtue of tanking", yet Blazers arent there because "in hindsight they traded Dame too late". Make that make sense from the perspective of future clarity. All those three are projected to have bottom 3 records, but Blazers have more value in their current roster along with two top 6 picks already drafted. Yet their plan sucks but Nets and Wiz plan is awesome.

What a genious.

Hopefully they embrace the tank
I will enjoy watching them trot the young dudes out and losing a lot more than seeing the veterans trying to compete

Lauri Markkanen and Collin Sexton are sooooo screwed. The injury bug continues to follow me around. Yesterday in yet another heart crushing loss to the evil Chiefs we had more devastating injuries. Deebo got pneumonia and had to go to the hospital. Kittle hurt his foot and is day to day and last but certainly not least Brandon Aiyuk tore his ACL and MCL and out for the year Good night. Rest in peace Lauri.

You’re rooting for losses for the Jazz though so that probably means we will have perfect health and sneak into the 8 seed which would be your equivalent of an injury to the team

Different strokes for different folks. If we are going to rebuild, do it. Dont mess around in the middle for 2 years (and now maybe 3). I still no reason to have traded both Mitchell and Gobert but I know I am alone in that perspective. BUT IF you are going to make that move, then blow it up, tank hard, and get after rebuilding. Don't wait until the trade deadline to rip the guts out of the team. This year looks like the same rodeo.
That's exactly what they will do. Yet another year in the late lottery with no real chance to improve besides hoping for another set of miracles like Gobert and Mitchell.

No we aren't....

They made the playoffs in Quin's last year, which was 3 seasons ago. Please stop spreading clear misinformation
This is the post-truth era. Anything and everything is the truth. We are in the middle of a 5 year playoff drought and we won it all 2 years ago.

Patrick Mahomes owns your poverty franchise

It's going to be a long boring what?

It better not be boring! I get that the Jazz may lose alot, and have accepted that. But, if we don't see development from our year-2 guys and maybe Cody Williams, then I'll be disappointed. Development in year-2 guys means closer games and winning the occasional "close one". Tank all you want, we should lose on depth, not on development and shear will. If those guys are developing, it will be frustrating, but rewarding knowing the Jazz didn't waste their draft capital.

The last year of Gobert/Mitchell was not boring at all. Was it disappointing? Yeah

To me boring is the Al Jefferson year. One, we had to watch Al Jefferson. Two, we never really had a great prospect during that time and a lot of our best players ended up being let go in favor of worse players.
We had the Core Four! I loved watching the Jazz develop Burks, Favors, Kanter and Hayward! I figured all of them were future All-Stars! It's so fun watching them develop! Hooray for developing Burke! And I'm pretty sure Hood could have taken over Hayward's spot had it not been for his upset tummy. Oh! And how about developing Exum, that was exciting! (Darn those injuries!)

(I even liked watching Fesenko and Koufus develop! Sure they were late in the draft, but that's only because they were projects. The big question is, why do we even keep All-Stars around???? Trade them for assets so we can develop players!!!!)

Actually the first Ricky Rubio year was a favorite. The second was fun but painful in the playoffs.

Actually the last 2 drafts have been a great success for the jazz.

George - could be an all star type of player.

Hendricks - is the prototipical 3 & D player.

Sensabaugh - could be a nice rotational piece. Could be a bench scorer.

Williams - has the potential to be at worst rotational but the ceiling of a potential all star.

Filipowski - could be the 5out center we need.

Collier - could be a solid back up pg in the nba.

Those are 6 solid picks. Considering 3 of them are late picks that is even more admirable.

They were all like 19-20 when we drafted them too.
