The Biden Administration and All Things Politics

What does this mean?

Who is the pissed off daddy?

What does it mean to spank a country? Imprison political opponents? Threaten and intimidate the media? Pack the courts with judges who’ll enable your criming? Deport millions of Americans? Gas dissidents?

Who will be spanked?

Imagine if Obama or email lady or one of their major supporters talked like this.

Btw, is this conservative? What’s small government about a dictator torturing and punishing his country? It sure would be nice if some of our non MAGA conservatives would speak out over this. Where are their principles?

What a ****ing nutjob. How does anyone take him seriously?

The more I think about it, the more obvious it seems that Ron DeSantis may be, in the political/public arena, the greatest enemy of “freedom of thought” in the United States today. The greatest enemy of “academic freedom” in the United States today. Not my model for critical thinking skills. The man declared war on critical thinking skills.
Wow, DeSantis sounds terrible. The only other person I could compare him to is Hitler after that opinion. I wonder how people in Florida live and learn or survive. I wish people voted for this guy the first time, he seems like a stand up guy:

I bet people hated Mr Anti Critical Thinking over those first 4 years that he would have been voted out. Oh he didn’t? He won with 60% of the vote. What’s that democrats and independents liked his policies so much they switch to vote for him the second time?

It’s from The NY Times because I know you won’t accept anything but left wing.

Must be terrible living in FL under his leadership…might look at the results coming in already from this election and it looks like people are trying to get further away from the left wing policies.

I think a Florida opinions are more valuable than a Rhode Island opinion that has blurry view that far away.

FWIW Germans voted for Hitler too, so.... Sometimes you can't see the forest for the trees.

I dunno, was Hitler wrong? Communists, gays, and je… I mean globalists were awful back then too. They too stabbed dear leader in the back just as globalists and the deep state did to Trump in 2020. Now it’s time for pissed off daddy to give liberals a spanking! I hate the other side. Besides, the economy judges tax cuts and inflation or something.

Are you triggered yet?

Thirteen former Trump White House officials signed an open letter backing up former Trump chief of staff John Kelly, who told the New York Times that Trump fits the definition of a fascist.

“We applaud General Kelly for highlighting in stark details the danger of a second Trump term. Like General Kelly, we did not take the decision to come forward lightly,” the letter said. “We are all lifelong Republicans who served our country. However, there are moments in history where it becomes necessary to put country over party. This is one of those moments.”

In his interview with the Times, released Tuesday, Kelly also said he observed Trump on multiple occasions praising Adolf Hitler. His comments came on the same day the Atlantic reported that Trump said he wished he had generals like Hitler.

In their letter, the former Trump officials said Kelly’s claims were “disturbing and shocking.” They added that “because we know Trump and have worked for and alongside him, we were sadly not surprised by what General Kelly had to say. This is who Donald Trump is.”

JD Vance compared trump to Hitler

Crazy that this type of thing doesn't resonate with all Americans.

It gets labeled fake news, "mainstream" and so-called "non-MAGA" republicans claim mass hysteria for anyone who espouses such a thought, and it gets brushed under the rug. Ain't none of them got time for that, they need to keep the republicans in power no matter what it takes, because something about the economy and other fake news and Trump hates immigrants almost as much as they do, etc. etc. It is all very technical and hard to understand, or in other words, insane actions of a cult.

But remember you are being very close-minded for not immediately accepting their fake-news explanation of everything as explained by Fox News.

The GOP playbook. Oppose everything the Dems propose, and make it as hard as possible to pass anything.

When it gets passed, take the credit.

Following the standard narcissists/cult leaders playbook, blame blame blame, then take credit, then accuse them of exactly what you are doing yourself. Hey it has worked for Trump so far.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump went fishing for compliments when he telephoned into running mate JD Vance’s town hall with NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo on Thursday.
The former president teed up his question by claiming it was “quite an interesting one” that should be “easy” to answer.

Trump then asked, “How brilliant is Donald J. Trump?”
Vance laughed, as did the audience of reportedly undecided voters.

“Well, first of all, sir, this is supposed to be undecided voters. I would hope that I have your vote, of all people,” Vance replied, later saying that “of course you’re very brilliant” and that Trump’s “true brilliance” is his “ability to relate to anybody in any environment.”

Trump lapped up the praise, telling Vance: “That’s very nice, and I appreciate it.” He then asked Vance “how brilliant” is his 2024 election rival, Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris.
Vance laughed and replied: “That’s a very tough one, sir. I’m supposed to say something...”
“Don’t say it,” Trump responded before claiming the GOP ticket was “leading by a lot” and “leading by a landslide.”

Have you seen social media? We are barely scratching at the thing, the bottom of the thing, at the, you know, barrel thing. Scratching that, or something.

trump loves to see this. Russia making americans fret about our elections.

US investigators suspect that Russian operatives were behind a fake video purporting to show someone destroying mail-in ballots in a Pennsylvania county that circulated on social media on Thursday, two sources briefed on the matter said.

The FBI and the intelligence community are assessing the video and believe it is part of an ongoing Russian malign influence campaign in the final days of the US election campaign, the sources said.

The Board of Elections in Bucks County, north of Philadelphia, was quick to debunk the video on Thursday. “The envelope and materials depicted in this video are clearly not authentic materials belonging to or distributed by the Bucks County Board of Elections,” the board said in a statement.

The video appeared on Thursday afternoon on X and was shared by some users as supposed evidence of voter fraud.

But the video was hatched by Russian operatives, according to Darren Linvill, an expert on Russian disinformation campaigns at Clemson University.

The video was “created in the style and manner of many previous” videos from a Russian information campaign known as Storm-1516, Linvill told CNN. “More importantly, it appeared for the first time from an account that has originated previous Storm narratives and routinely shares campaign content,” he said.

The same Russian network, Storm-1516, was behind a fake video shared on X this month attempting to smear Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz, according to Linvill and experts at Microsoft. US intelligence agencies also attributed the activity to Russia.

Thank god that russia has free speech protections to influence our elections. That is what the 1st amendment was created for after all. For russia.

Vice President Kamala Harris slammed Republican nominee Donald Trump on Friday for calling the United States the “garbage can for the world,” accusing the former president of disparaging the American people.

“It’s just another example of how he really belittles our country,” Harris said to reporters in Houston.

“This is someone who is a former president of the United States, who has a bully pulpit. And this is how he uses it? To tell the world that somehow the United States of America is trash?"

Harris said a president “should be someone who elevates discourse and talks about the best of who we are and invests in who we are. Not someone like Donald Trump who’s constantly demeaning and belittling who the American people are. America deserves better."

Well said Kamala.

Conservatives and independents shouldn’t pay much mind to liberals like me who fear what might happen if Donald Trump becomes the next president. We are legion, but our opinions are predictable.

No, the people worth paying attention to as we close in on next month’s election are the Republicans who fear what might happen if Trump wins. They are also large in number, and growing, but more important, their voices are anything but predictable.

They are, in fact, remarkable. I certainly can’t recall a time when this many high-ranking and notable members of a political party have outright rejected their own party’s presidential nominee. With former President Trump, it has happened and continues to happen over and over again.

On Thursday, influential former U.S. Rep. Fred Upton of Michigan, a Republican who served in Congress for 36 years, endorsed Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris, saying of Trump: “He's just totally unhinged. We don't need this chaos. We need to move forward, and that's why I'm where I am.”

Also Thursday, Wisconsin’s longest-serving Republican lawmaker, state Sen. Robert Cowles of Green Bay, announced: “I plan on voting for Harris.”
Trump has to be defeated, and we have to protect the Constitution. And the country will go on even with some liberal things that Harris might do, or might not do,” Cowles said. “You have to have the foundation of the Constitution, to protect democracy. If you don’t have that, we will disappear.”

That’s two key Republican leaders in two key swing states, both denouncing Trump and endorsing Harris on the same day, less than two weeks before the election.

Of course, any conversation of Republicans recognizing how wildly unfit Trump is to be president should start and stop with former Vice President Mike Pence. In March, the man who served next to the former president said he “could not in good conscience” support Trump.

Pence told Fox News: “It should come as no surprise that I will not be endorsing Donald Trump this year.”

And on and on and on. Its a long article with a long list. “However, there are moments in history where it becomes necessary to put country over party. This is one of those moments. Everyone should heed General Kelly’s warning.”The officials include former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham, former Department of Homeland Security chief of staff Miles Taylor, and former national security adviser to Mike Pence Olivia Troye. Other signatories include former senior counselor to Kelly Kevin Carroll, former assistant secretary of homeland security Elizabeth Neumann, former deputy press secretary Sarah Matthews, former press secretary to the vice president Alyssa Farah Griffin; and the former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci.

Well said Kamala.
I'm glad she went at that. Needed to be said how much Trump hates America and just sees it as a means to an end to enrich himself and take care of his billionaire buddies.

You’re comparing him to Hitler. I did not post my comments in the Hitler thread. I’ve avoided commenting in the Hitler thread up to this point. Sometime I’ll read it from the start, and maybe add my two cents. I was speaking as an ex-educator who is alarmed, and saddened, by the attack on freedom of thought in Florida.

My comments were directed at DeSantis’s attitudes and actions toward education in his state. I was not comparing DeSantis to Hitler.

I was not talking of the results of elections involving the man. Your argument seems to be because DeSantis is popular in Florida, therefore my comments criticising a man who absolutely loathes freedom of thought are worthless. In other words, you avoided commenting on the points I was making, and prefer to talk about Florida elections and how maybe, according to you, not me, he must be another Hitler in the making..

DeSantis popularity is beside the point. At least the point I was making.

You wonder how people in Florida “live and learn and survive”? Me too, esp. where “learn” is concerned. They just experienced two devastating hurricanes. And DeSantis had “climate change” removed from all government documents! Yet, man made warming heated those Gulf waters. And made those storms more powerful, with lots more rain. Can you say “ostrich, head in sand, no critical thinking allowed where the climate is concerned”?

It’s an overall thing with DeSantis, stamp out any human knowledge that is not, politically and culturally, to his liking. And that, not how he compares to Hitler, not how he does in elections, was what I was talking about.

He thinks official actions can do away with freedom of discussion. Don’t believe in man made global warming in the Gulf? Stamp out any reference, it will no longer be real! Sound like critical thinking to you? Sounds like an ostrich with his head buried in the sand to me.

DeSantis is deathly afraid of any honest discussion of real issues, be the subject American history(remember, black slaves benefited from slavery according to DeSantis, slavery taught blacks valuable skills, and that’s the end of discussion!!), or be it the warming waters of the Gulf of Mexico, and how they strengthen storms.

The man is an enemy of true education. He is an enemy of true learning.

That is why I took exception to you accusing myself and others of avoiding critical thinking. Hey, we can all fall into biases, we can all make mistakes in reasoning, draw erroneous conclusions, etc. We can all be wrong when we think we’re right. I took exception to your accusation because nowhere does such an accusation apply more than with the very governor I was criticizing for his extreme close mindedness.

I have been to Rhode Island once, in Providence. I had the best clam chowder at the “Black Pearl”, is that place still open?
