2024-2025 Tank Race

It looks like Hardy is having the guys do heavy weight lifting at half time. Our shots are all short. We also seem to be shooting worse at home. Would anybody put it past DA to do something funny with our basket at the half?

We are a historically bad offense shooting unfathomable shooting percentages right now. It's time for conspiracy theories.

Actually Pistons fell from 1 to 5 two years in a row, including in the Wemby draft.
I knew that when I posted which is why I hoped for top 3 as they all have a 14% chance at the #1 pick. The Pistons actually got royally ****ed the past two seasons - they had the worst record each season and drafted 5th both seasons. Amazingly bad luck.

I think its just that no one has set the correct tone that installs confidence within the team.

Lauri has done that more than anyone in the past few seasons, but he has also struggled apart from the Memphis game where he did set the tone and our offense was fine.

Chances of that happening (two 5's in a row) is actually about the same as getting a top 2 pick with the best odds.

Its definitely bad luck, but its like losing 2 coin tosses in a row. It happens.

I think benching Sexton was a great tank move.
He is playing the least amount of minutes per game in his time at Utah (also the least minutes of his career) and shooting the worst percentage of his time in Utah (which is probably still one of the best on the team at 46% and still about 22.5 points per game per 36).

Very depressing, but at the same time the worst record is guaranteed a top 5 pick in a draft where I currently see 5 difference makers.
Has that ever panned out in NBA history? Like, literally, ever?

2003 was the closest I can think of where it did. Unless you had the 2nd pick I guess.

It's been 21 years since 2003, we're due for another great draft class at some point.

Also, this was not a prediction, but a hope.

With no incentive to tank, the Hawks should still clean up in the second half of the year and won’t trouble us. But as of right now they are missing half their team and will feed wins to other tanking teams. Already fed WAS two wins.

Pelicans are Hawks west with a ton of injuries, but we don’t play them until January.

Ainge may want the worst record in the league, and he's got Detroit and Toronto bearing down on him, both at 1-5. The contenders are being made known right out the gate.

A year ago, Taylor and Brice were in the Gleague. Taylor was shooting around 30% from the field, and Brice was pushing something like 5 TOs per game. That's the kind of space Cody appears to be in right now. If the Jazz weren't so bent on losing and already losing bodies to injuries, Cody would probably be sent to the Gleague.
