Following Potential 2025 Draftees

I get it for some prospects, like a Bailey/Traore, but I really dont get it for Kon.

I feel like the reason why Kon was ever ranked high in the first place may have been because Givony was glazing him like crazy. I’m still somewhat optimistic on Kon, but man he’s got Givony on payroll and working overtime.

Well do we actually know the money was the same? BYU just lands two of their best three recruits in its history in back to back years cuz of a coach that has never been HC in the NBA?
I don't know much about the demin recruiting process.
I read that AJ had a price and he set that price and all the schools courting him met the same price. He said he didn't want money to be the deciding factor and that it wasn't.
He could be lying though, idk.
I think the fact that he is currently living near Provo and playing ball here probably factored in as well.
I do think it's possible that Kevin Young is the best recruiter that BYU has ever had though.
I think there are many factors (BYU bball court is an amazing atmosphere and holds close to 20,000). He had a great time at the football and basketball games he attended in provo (crowds were chanting his name). BYU has a huge fan base that is very active on social media.
If you ever go to cougarboard.com you will probably be amazed at how active it is. So many posts it's insane. Impossible to keep up. Even tons of Ute fans post on there.

Maybe who the coach/recruiter is didn't matter though, idk. Maybe BYU did outbid all the other schools and it was all about the money. I'm stoked either way! Go Cougars!

Watching the Pen/Rutgers game.

Harper definitely a guaranteed top 3 guy. The real deal.

Also, Zack Hicks of Penn is an interesting sleeper. 6'8 pure shooter.

The way UNC features its freshmen wouldn't be that appealing if I were a top recruit.
Kansas already has Darryn Peterson, so the two of them would need to share the ball. Maybe it would work, but AJ may want his own team to be fully featured.
That leaves BYU and Alabama, and those two were allegedly what it came down to.

Yep. Many factors played into his decision.

AJ seems like a super serious kid. BYU has a pro staff. They play a pro style. He went to Utah to acclimate to Utah with the idea that BYU was a strong possibility. They will probably return a lot of their main rotation players, including Catchings, who could have a big 2nd year. They got another top 50 guy in recruiting. Maybe the AJ commit brings in another uncommitted top player?

Bama is a good school, but their coach also basically outlaws midrange jumpers.

Kristen Peek on Dybantsa's commitment to BYU.

Good listen. I listened to the first segment (a little over 10 minutes) when they were discussing his decision and what may have factored in. Mentioned how Kansas has a dude who would demand the ball (like you said) and might not be a good fit. Mentioned money. Mentioned playing ball in Utah currently. Mentioned how BYU got another big time recruit that he would fit well with (7 footer xavion station). And talked the most about the coaching staff and the system they run and how the were 4 coaches deep at his games and stuff. About how Kevin Young showed up at BYU with a whole new mindset and game plan.
They recruited him very hard it sounds like.

Fwiw regarding BYU recruiting with Kevin Young..... NIL existed and Ryan Smith was here owning the jazz when mark pope was the coach at BYU.
