2024-25 Trade Rumors Thread

I had ORL as a Sexton destination, but ORL is a team that I think made a lot more sense for them to go after Shroeder. Not only does he have the German connection, but he is expiring. ORL has salary issues next summer, getting off of Anthony and bringing in Shroeder would have been huge for them. For some teams Sexton's deal may be the more favorable structure, ORL is not one of them. If they weren't willing to go 3 seconds for Shroeder I don't think they will go beyond that for Sexton.
We dont know if they werent willing. Maybe Brooklyn didnt want Cole Anthony's contract.

Also, the Spurs still exist and have a ton of assets. John Collins could be a dream target with the way he is playing. Barnes + Collins works. Both are bad contracts. Jazz could ask for a lot back if the Spurs want to upgrade with a young talent who is still growing like Collins.

We also have to remember the reason Collins had no value when the Jazz got him is becasue every single year he was regressing. This is the first year where he has shown upward momentum in his skillset. Teams who liked him before his gradual fall off might be totally back in on him.

Collins + Wemby would be filthy imo.

The Spurs should want Collins more than most and they have more assets than anyone that would be competing, also. Sexton and Collins are actually exactly the types of players they should be targeting (a ballhandler that can turn the corner/break the paint and a PnR big that can get on the rim with aplomb, switch between 4 and 5, and also space the floor).

Castle’s size and desire to be a PG pairs well with Sexton’s holes, Wemby covers maybe more defensive issues than anyone ever. The amount of chaos that a Wemby ball-screen can unleash isn’t realized until they have a ballhandler that can blow by a sagging big but also has the nominal shooting efficiency to demand being guarded on the perimeter.

Totally reasonable to ask for two quality 1sts to give the Spurs near-perfect fit pieces in exchange for basically dead weight salary (Barnes, Z. Collins, picks for Sexton, J. Collins).

The Spurs want another star and they are too good to get through draft. The only way for San Antonio to get that another star is to use their picks in a trade instead of throwing them away for a role player during the 0.500 season.

Realistically, how many strong teams may need a PF like Collins? Memphis, Miami, Clippers... maybe Mavs - and that's about it, unless I am missing someone. The market is not that big and those teams don't have a lot of draft assets.

[Stein, Fischer] The New Orleans Pelicans are open to trading anyone on their roster except Herb Jones, Yves Missi, and Trey Murphy III

Looks like our trading of gobert and Mitchell is going to look stupid as they are both in win now positions and they might be for next 3 to 4 years and by then we would have a ****** haul of draft picks from them
Sadly i agree. Pretty sure that Minny and Cavs will be good teams for at least 3 or 4 more years.....i go hope at the beginning of the season that Minny may fall but they are not. And if they manage to get rid of Randle in a smart way, they may even better.

Criticizing DA here is not popular but i still believe he mess up by large when he trade Mike and NAW to Minny. Rudy got back to his DPOY level after the trade, getting Mike on his side, and NAW is turning into a really good player on both side.... poor job for me.

If the Pels have a fire sale they are definitely in it for thr 25/26 lottery sweepstakes.

If they have a fire sale can we take advantage of it in any way?

I am not sold on both teams being amazing for 3 - 4 years. Time will tell. Stocks go up and down for every team.

Still, trading Conley and NAW to Minny was a disaster. They were falling apart at the seems before we sent them Mike.

Seems that they wanna trade almost all the players.... but i'm not exciting at all with MC Collum or Ingram. The only bet i will go for is Zion but not sure we can have him. Zion is a top player if healthy. It's a real risk as he never show he can play a full season but in our position we have to take risk. No accomplished superstar will never sign in SLC even by overpaying) and if we have to wait that 2 or our picks become very good, we will need a lot of luck...Don and Rudy story does not happen often.

Cj McCollum would make us too good to tank. But if he can be had for cheap (say, Collins, Eubanks, and the 2025 Cavs pick)...

It would be hard to say no. CJ would be a fun fit next to Maarkenan imho.
Oh it’s quite easy. The jazz I hope aren’t dumb enough to sacrifice draft position just to get a good not great player that doesn’t fit the timeline.

Murray being available is kind of funny to me. Not sure what NO does but an almost full reset seems to be on the horizon.
