2024-25 Trade Rumors Thread

Even with next year in mind, that's just probably not a bet I make. Walker's probably on pace to have a better career than 1/2 (maybe more) of the players in the top ten of drafts?
Yeah its about timing and getting not just a top ten pick next year but whatever Walker would return in value. We may be able to thread the needle next year but doubt we can do it with Collins/Sexton and Walker. So if that is the plan we should move accordingly.

fwiw, and @Handlogten's Heros you can probably verify or refute:

On some of the Kings' forums there's some (not unanimous, by any means) willingness to put Devin Carter rather than Trey Lyles alongside Huerter in a possible Collins trade. I think they like what Lyles brings more than we can imagine here in Jazzland, and Carter seems to be a bit of a victim of numbers (with Fox, Monk, Keon Ellis, and maybe Derozan if he's pushed down a position due to Collins). Maybe a little shine off him since he started playing a couple weeks ago.

Would Lyles even get minutes with Collins on the roster? I dont get that sentiment from anyone who likes the Kings.

I could see them move derozen to the 2, Murray to the 3, and Collins to the 4. Move monk back to 6th man. Lyles would be the back up 4.
I could see that.

They’d want to keep Carter. Lyles is whatevs. They hate Huerter.

The Lockednin Kings guy guessed it would be Huerter/Lyles and a top 8 protected pick in 2028.

I wonder if you could flip that to the Thunder to get our pick back next year.
Why would you want that over a 2028 Kings pick? The Kings are pretty well set up to be a solid team for years to come. I don't see them blowing it up. They got a great fan base and will probably be content being a spunky playoff team for years.

If you really want the Jazz to keep the pick, just tank another year

This is the tweet, but look at all the discomfort among Kings fans in the comments in giving up Lyles

I mean, the common fan is a dip **** if we’re being honest. Jazz Twitter is baaad, too.

But, lol, yeah, I’ll take Devin Carter AND a pick if I’m understanding.

UPDATE: damn those people are morons. Half seem to think Lyles is as good or better (JC has DOUBLE the PER, >3 points better in BPM on a terrible team).

That’s kinda weird on Lyles. From the folks I talk with they really dont mention him. I mean by all means send us Carter you dumbasses. That’s just robbery.

I could definitely see Pistons being buyers at the deadline, but I wonder if Collins just clogs up their rotation more. Would Sexton be the better fit for the same return?
Collins would be an upgrade over Harris, but a bit redundant and you'd have 51 million combined between them tied up and I dont think they work all that well together. Sexton makes much more sense.

Was thinking of some surprise trades that could come out of left field and here is one that stood out to me.
No picks or players worth a damn? I guess I need to research how Klintman has been doing to understand if there’s any merit to this, but 95% of fan proposals are absolute rubbish, so I’m gonna guess not.

Edit: I guess this is a salary dump but I don’t know what the Jazz are supposed to do with the savings besides be a dumping ground for bad salary and the returns in recent years on that strategy have been poor.

I don’t think it happens but it would be a Detroit thing to do. Klintman was the 37th pick in this years draft. A few of us on here liked him in that range. We shed a ton of salary next year and get a decent prospect. Like I said I think he ends up in Sacramento just spitballing some random trades here.
