2025 Playoffs Chat & Chill Thread

I had insomnia last night and so I ended up watching the second half of the MIN/LAL game. I definitely wanted the Lakers to lose. Rudy was amazing, and I'm not sure if he'll get credit for it, was completely responsible for shutting down the Lakers down the stretch. I think the most impressive of his stats is the 0 turnovers.

The best thing that could happen for the league would be for Luka to decide to leave the Lakers in free agency next summer. ( ok maybe not the league, but for the 29/30 fan bases that hate the Lakers).

Someone like Gobert, who had never scored 25 points in a playoff game, thoroughly outclassing a team with Doncic and James wasn’t what anyone expected—and the Timberwolves knew it. “The Lakers are supposed to win,” Edwards had said earlier in the series. “That’s how it’s supposed to go.”

A week or so ago, just about everyone in the basketball world thought they would. Now, it is the Timberwolves advancing while the most talked-about team in the sport prepares for another offseason of reflection and re-engineering.
The Lakers start in an enviable position—they still have Doncic and James. But they now know something else. Those two names alone guarantee absolutely nothing.

If measured by the playoffs alone, neither team won the doncic trade.

Mavs went from western conference champions to a playin exit.

The Lakers went from first round exit to embarrassing first round exit.

Having said that, the Lakers should be fine rebuilding around Luka. Dallas won't be fine.
Ehh, the Lakers are far from fine. They just lost 4-1 with Lebron/Luka. What happens when Lebron retires or leaves? How can they improve their roster as it currently stands? What center can they realistically get?

You do need at least a top 10 player to win the Finals though and at least the Lakers already have that.

Other pieces are easier to get.

Yeah, but they are a lot of pieces away.

I like Reaves, and think he's great, but him and Luka together are two massive marks on the defensive end. I dont think they work together unless the rest of your roster is loaded with defenders.

How can they get a center? What happens when Lebron leaves? Who is the 2nd all-star they can get next to Luka?

They are in great position to be a playoff team for years to come, but they arent in a great position to build a true contender.

I am intriuged to see Luka next season. If getting bounced by Gobert in a Game 5 doesnt light a fire under your *** to take your conditioning to the next level, I dont know what will.

LMAO even I wrote off Rudy this series. What a ****ing game after the duds he layed. To do it in a very visible game too.
Yeah, Rudy was terrific, smoked the centerless, unathletic Lakers. Awful 3-point shooting for both teams (Edwards 0-11, Randle 1-6, DiVincenzo 2-12, Luka, 2-8, LeBron 1-5, Reeves 2-10). Didn’t help the Lakers that LeBron and Luka, who play no defense, played 40 minutes each.
