As always, Lauri looks so much better when he has guys around him who have a passing mindset – Nurk, Point Walker, Flip, WCJ. That was true in his All Star season and it was true in this game.

Rewarding him for those constant back door cuts and dives to the rim is a key factor in keeping him effective.

To be fair ANY player looks better when the ball is passed around... but I get what you are saying. Lauri turns into a force multiplier on offense when the offense flows and the ball doesnt stop.

No Deni or Camara, so missing two of their best five.
Ya, a team must have all their starters to be able to contend with svi, bamba, and tonje lmao

Jazz starters executed offensive plays really well..Interesting to see how it will look like in regular season games where defenses try harder and the ball pressure is stronger. Very good clean looks and a lot of them.

We fumbled the bag with Walker. Now instead of a nice team friendly deal we get the 3+1 at 5-10M more per year than we would have otherwise lol. Or we get to trade him for a good deal less than we likely could have over the last year. Indecisiveness does not equal flexibility.

Also no hard feelings. If the Jazz didn't play this game with Hayward, I don't think he would have left. This is a situation where the Jazz should have been able to come out with a good, team friendly deal (team option or front loaded). That extra $5-$10M could have just been frontloaded and/or tied to incentives.

And again...if you don't believe Kessler is that guy. Fine...but then you should have just traded him instead of going into RFA where other teams want him more than you.

I am having PTSD about DL saying we "gotta keep the powder dry" only to live at the salary floor but the funds are "reinvested in the program".

Only way this really plays out in a smart way for the Jazz is if Walker gets a serious injury and that's a terrible outcome for everyone really.

And everyone pointing to Giddey and Kuminga are morons. Last year's market is not next year's market and those are some wonky *** players.

Yeah, Giddey and Kuminga are not similar situations. Love them or hate them, they are still very much prospects and entered a market with no cap space. Kessler was a starting level player immediately and is still a valued archetype around the league. He had a large market through trade, and I expect he'll have a large market in RFA.

I'm glad you get it... I feel like I'm taking crazy pills at times explaining to people why this last FA period is not "the new NBA FA". The list of free agents is also really gross... letting a good young player get to RFA is the opposite of what a rebuilding team should do.

Maybe his ultimate ask would have been too high... we didn't bother to do the work. Honestly some pretty lazy ****.

I wonder if they will offer an final extension offer this week.
