I can’t afford this Trump economy

Nine months after Donald Trump took office, promising to reduce prices on “day one”, a clear majority of Americans say their monthly costs have risen by between $100 and $749, according to an exclusive new poll conducted for the Guardian.

The president has continued to insist that there is “virtually no inflation”. “Prices are ‘WAY DOWN’ in the USA,” Trump wrote on social media in late August.

Yet according to a new Harris poll, Americans are still reporting soaring inflation and are increasingly pessimistic about the economy.
With my wife's cancer treatments, we have been very attuned to our monthly outlay. I have all the receipts for every expense for the past 6 months and I can tell you that our monthly food budget, even with people bringing us meals and my wife eating like a bird due to lack of appetite and extreme nausea, has gone up about 20% overall. Buying less food for more money, the republican way.

BOSTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Friday granted the Trump administration’s emergency appeal to temporarily block a court order to fully fund SNAP food aid payments amid the government shutdown, even though residents in some states already have received the funds.

A judge had given the Republican administration until Friday to make the payments through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. But the administration asked an appeals court to suspend any court orders requiring it to spend more money than is available in a contingency fund, and instead allow it to continue with planned partial SNAP payments for the month.

After a Boston appeals court declined to immediately intervene, Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson issued an order late Friday pausing the requirement to distribute full SNAP payments until the appeals court rules on whether to issue a more lasting pause. Jackson handles emergency matters from Massachusetts.

Her order will remain in place until 48 hours after the appeals court rules, giving the administration time to return to the Supreme Court if the appeals court refuses to step in.

The food program serves about 1 in 8 Americans, mostly with lower incomes.

Officials in more than a half-dozen states confirmed that some SNAP recipients already were issued full November payments on Friday. But Jackson’s order could prevent other states from initiating the payments.

Dude. We have 12 trillion dollars in tariff money. Just use that.

To The Rapist it's just politics to keep his bloodthirsty base rabid. The percentages work in his favor even if many of his own supporters won't get food aid. And MAGA would just about chew their own leg off for Trump. MAGA truly don't care enough about starving children and the stress caused to families to call out Trump. Just like they don't care enough about Trump's SS nazis grabbing people off the streets and dragging them away in front of their children. Just like they don't really care about their Fuhrer raping children.

"While the USDA does not track political affiliation, analyzing data by congressional district shows that SNAP recipients made up an average of 13.8% of households in Democratic-held districts, compared with 10.9% in Republican-held districts in 2023."

Appealing to the common man.

Not to be confused with the Halloween night party. Another big “let them eat cake” moment for Donald Trump. And still the MAGA gang sleeps on.

The president of Argentina!
