2026 NBA Trade Discussion Thread

It’s an “implied” no trade clause which has confused me because most explanations are not straightforward and if I understand them correctly, “implied no trade clause” is a sub-optimal term at best.

Point being, you raised an important point. It seems he has to sign off on his next destination (because that is built into a one-year reup that includes a 2nd year team option, which FVV signed).
Interesting. I thought Conley had the "implied" NTC and FVV had an outright NTC.

Both McCollum and Young are out tonight. I'm guessing deal is done but they are checking to see if any teams want to join in.
I wonder if they have their parts essentially agreed to and are waiting to see if it becomes and AD super trade.

Trae has Wiz as the preferred destination... which means they likely are the most willing to pay him or work something out. I think we are closing in on something but it might be another week. We will see if AD is active tomorrow. Guessing they use this as a reason to hold him out for tank purposes anyway.

Could be AD super trade, could also just be teams moving around contracts because all of the money moving around creates opportunities. I think it gets done, might take some time though. The Wizards have some important, winnable games coming up.

Got to make sure nobody is outraged though, that's the most important thing.

I'm sure Presti will be calling the league to discuss the players availability and integrity in the reporting... oh wait... they only care about that when its us and they are 100% behind it when it benefits them.

My guess is the Wiz end up with Trae and a contract no one else wanted while sending CJ and Kispert out. They will also get the other first round pick that Atlanta has this year but will cough up a couple seconds (making change for a $20 type of thing).

Could also see Champangie included as a cheap sweetener.

Trae could help the Jazz in a tank matchup with WAS, but if ATL pulls this off the chances of WK to zero. Whatever you were expecting to pay WK, add $5-$10M annually to it.

Depending on how the deal gets done, both Was could still have space to do it and Atlanta would be a team that gets added to the list.

It will be funny to see how bad they misevaluated his market...

I do think there is an outside chance they move him if LA offers a first again.

AD being inactive tells us nothing. It is his natural habitat.
Its true but if a trade is brewing it gives them an excuse to make him a healthy scratch. Which would be a first.

I wonder what it would take to get Jerace Walker from Indy?

I am nervous just writing this but would it be worth trying to rebuild Patrick Williams? Contract is not great so I figure jazz would get some compensation.

With the emergence of George in Washington I wonder what an offer for Coulibaly would look like? With mentioning Bilal Kispert could be had for pretty cheap.

In order for them to win this gambit, they pretty much have to execute moves with cap space that could not have been done without the extra $10-15M in cap they saved. But even in that even, you have to weigh that versus the cost of Kessler likely being paid long term. I can't really see a way where they win by getting Kessler on a strong deal. Even with Kessler missing the entire season they are not in a good negotiation situation. The best they can hope for on that front is Kessler saying, "I want to play for you, instead of signing X contract with Y team I will sign a deal with you guys in less punishing terms".

He might just feel disrespected and want to leave/design his offer sheet in a way to get out sooner though.

I could see LAL maybe making a deal....Idk, they only have bad firsts so I'm not super interested. IND could be a team that ramps up their offer. Could argue that IND does not have premium stuff to give up either because they are not trading their first this year. They've given up this year and are going to collect their reward.
