I actually think that Hardy overdid it a bit. He put out a starting five where the only scoring threat and the only playmaker was Keyonte. That is putting a tremendous amount of pressure on your young point guard. There was nobody else among the starters who could even dribble or bring the ball up.
If in his third season our PG not only needs someone to play defense for him, needs someone else to bring the ball up, he might not be the great hope of the future. Instead of having a 1A and 1B, the Jazz might have 1B and 4. And pretty much nothing else useful (other than Kessler).

If he can't handle the pressure, at all, of playing a meaningless game at home against one of the bad teams in the East, then we might be a million miles away from him handling actual pressure.

Not gonna lie... I watched about 20% of the plays in this one because the script became very obvious very fast.

Hornets spam wide open 3s from the same freaking corner after only 1-2 passes because our young guys couldnt figure out even the most simple defensive rotations. And whenever they missed we let the have another try since being a spectator is much more fun than anticipating, blocking out and fighting for rebounds. On the other end the spectating continued, when only the guy who had the ball was doing anything besides watching.

I hope they made everyone in the team pay for those exclusive in-court seats.

I intend to keep track until we break the streak, just because it's such a weird stat:

Jazz are now 0-18 on the season in games with 1 day of rest, an outcome nearing a 1 in 1900 likelihood, with a -16.9 net rating in these games.

(For what it's worth, it's clear that offensive performance is much more of a problem in these 1-day rest games than defensive.)

This game just proves that:

A. We are right to tank and tank hard because we need another star. Not top 8. Top 4.

B) Without a solid big in the game your team cant compete long term. We need to keep Walker. Obviously.

C) Keeping Lauri is the right move without him we are years away from competing.

D) Perspective is everything. We had a total of one starter out of our starting five for next year and our one starter, Keyonte, had an unusually really bad game. Everyone must progress but this game doesn’t define the future of the team.

IF the Jazz need to tank until they get a top4 star, then keeping Markkanen is lunacy, because he'll be probably retired by then.

He’s 28 not 38 his game also is reliant on athleticism but not as much as a lot of players he’s a 7 footer who can shoot anywhere. Plus he’s a no drama guy who likes it here and I’m not convinced we can get an equal return on him.

If they could get a really big offer for Markkanen I think they'd have sent him out, but honestly I think keeping him makes a lot of sense with what our cap sheet will look like over the next few years. He'll be coming off his max by the time he's really declining at all, but he could still be an awesome player with slightly less athleticism. If we're having to pay Keyonte, Ace, and our pick this year by then, that sounds pretty good?
