A guy filming an NFL documentary has audio evidence of Greg Williams telling his defenders to hurt specific 9er players the night before their playoff game this past season. These quotes are pretty damning.

On Alex Smith:
Gregg Williams pointed to his chin while telling his players to hit Niners quarterback Alex Smith "right there" and says "Remember me. I got the first one. I got the first one. Go get it. Go lay that m----------- out."

More on Smith:
On Smith: "Every single one of you, before you get off the pile, affect the head. Early, affect the head. Continue, touch and hit the head."

On Kyle Williams (a player with a history of concussions):
"We need to find out in the first two series of the game, that little wide receiver, No. 10, about his concussion. We need to f------ put a lick on him right now. He needs to decide. He needs to f------ decide."

On Crabtree:
"We need to decide whether Crabtree wants to be a fake-*** prima donna, or he wants to be a tough guy. We need to find out. He becomes human when we f------ take out that outside ACL."

On Davis:
"We need to decide how many times we can bull rush and and we can f------ put Vernon Davis' ankles over the pile."

Simply put: This guy should never coach in the NFL again.

This crap has no place in the NFL. Ban him for life.

In the audio he talks about hitting hard, playing physical, intimidating the opponents, not allowing the opponents to ever forget them.... That is totally fine and is said everywhere in every sport.

But the stuff about taking out the outside ACL, turning ankles in a pile, etc that is crossing the line IMO.

And quite honestly, the #1 reason why the NFL is coming down so hard on these guys. The players complain that the league is "killing their careers." The NFL is facing several lawsuits from former players. This hurts the players' case, since it shows that at least some players on a certain team willingly participated in competitions designed to shorten/end careers. The league has to at least show that they aren't putting up with this crap to avoid further lawsuits...

In all my experiences playing football, all my coaches talking about hitting hard, playing physical, etc.

None of them talked used that language, going after ACLs, hitting them in the head, etc...And quite honestly, I wouldn't have bought into that type of dirty play.

I thought the "bounty" put on people was nothing but some type of playful motivation at first, but this is seriously messed up. I honestly thought people were over-reacting, but this unethical on so many levels, there is no reason to actually want to cripple someone and ruin their career.

well they failed didn't they

Target an area of weakness of your opponent? Yeah, that is such a crazy concept. I bet no one else in the league has ever told their players to do that. I bet no scouting report has previous injuries listed as a spot of weakness.

Loyalty does crazy things, like make people that are otherwise halfway decent take apologist stances on issues that any common idiot would take the opposite stance.

I am no fan of the NFL, in fact, it might be worse than MLS -- but seriously? Isn't this what football is all about? Grow some short-hairs, you freaking sissies.

God damn. You know the cause is all sorts of ****ed up when trout and Cy are on the same side.

I am all for good, hard hits. Welcome to the damn game. This was not about hits. This was about injuring players. To very different things and clearly over the line.

This is about winning at all costs. If you want to play in a gentleman's game, join the PGA.

Agreed. I imagine he'll be blackballed from the league regardless of a ban.

I hope so. And for those of you thinking I wouldn't have that stance if it was my team. Well if Fox (Broncos head coach) did that then I would want him banned for life as well.

1/2 the league would probably be banned.

If they get busted advocating and encouraging the injuring of other players/personnel then so be it. I am not talking about getting syked up and asking for big hits. I am talking about the quotes on this guy. That type of crap has no place int he NFL, none.

Cyrone and Trout have their head up their asses (sorry fellas).

Telling your players to go for a guys ACL, or to go at the head of a player who has suffered past concussions is chicken ****, plain and simple. Cyrone, you're "half the league is doing it" argument is weak sauce. Regardless of how many players/coaches act like Greg Williams, it doesn't make it right. Not only that, but the we now know the Saints had been under investigation for quite some time and had been warned to knock it off. They basically gave the big **** You to the NFL.

Telling guys to go after ACL's or intentionally sprain ankles is not "part of the game" no matter how you slice it.

The only problem I have is saying let's take out Crabtree's ACL. The rest sounds like tuff guy speech to me. Best part is the 49ers ended up taking out one of their players. Is it just me or does Greg Williams suffer from little man syndrome.

How many times have you heard a coach yell something along the lines of "Go out and kill them"? Do you think that means "Hit them hard, but not to hard not injure them!" or "Watch out, don't get near that guy's knees, he has a history of ACL problems!". If a player has a weakness, you are going to try and exploit it. If a RB has a bad hand, you are going to do everything to hit that hand.

I do have a problem with purposely trying to twist ankles, and just the overall creepy tone of William's speech. No wonder why they lost, that speech sounded about as inspiring as a Ron Paul speech.
