What's new

More Bountygate drama.

How many times have you heard a coach yell something along the lines of "Go out and kill them"? Do you think that means "Hit them hard, but not to hard not injure them!" or "Watch out, don't get near that guy's knees, he has a history of ACL problems!". If a player has a weakness, you are going to try and exploit it. If a RB has a bad hand, you are going to do everything to hit that hand.

I do have a problem with purposely trying to twist ankles, and just the overall creepy tone of William's speech. No wonder why they lost, that speech sounded about as inspiring as a Ron Paul speech.

Weak, weak, weak. He was talking about intentionally trying to injure players. You are trying to argue for hard hits. No one here disputes that. But this guy was clearly asking/demanding something else.

Stop comparing the two as you know that is BS.

Hard hits = injuries.

You also have to combined these quotes with the rest of the pieces of the investigation. Also Cyrone if he would've said go out and kill them, murder them and other over the top euphemisms (knowing not to take him literal) is TOTALLY different then specifically saying take out an ACL or saying keep hitting him in the head while in the pile everybody hit him in the head. Especially how concussion sensitive the NFL is right now even more on QB's (which they're starting to be overprotected but that is another subject).

When this first broke months ago I thought of it is being blown out of proportion but because they're stupid enough to get caught they'll get in some trouble. But the little bits and pieces we are getting are worse than I thought they'd be and being told to stop few awhile and being under investigation/being watched for awhile means they knew they should cool it and didn't.

For Cyrone's benefit let's pretend every NFL team is this bad despite none of them being investigated like NO is and despite no real proof of it. If everyone did it the Saints are the only ones stupid enough to be caught and if everyone is doing it the NFL knows it and doesn't care but they have an image to protect so guess what your going to get punished and made an example of. That is a huge jump to make to believe all that, just saying.

I wouldn't say "stupid enough to get caught". They obviously had a rat in the bunch, I'm pretty sure every coach would watch what they say if they knew they were being recorded. Williams was illegally voice recorded for that video.

To put it simply he crossed the line by substituting "hard hits" with "ACL" and "hits to the head" "keep hitting to the head" "everybody before getting up hit him in the head".

Heck if he would've just said I want you to murder them, hit them so hard they'll go crying to there mommies, hit Smith in the chin (then stop there) test Crabtree's manhood hit'm low, test #10's man hood hit him hard. The quotes wouldn't be as damaging but then he'd still be in trouble for the bounty system.

I agree that Williams probably crossed the line (though I'm sure nearly every coach does behind closed doors), I'm not really trying to defend him. Just saying not to overreact to it. I wouldn't suspend him for life (even though, I'm sure he will have a very hard time finding a job).
