What's new

Nick Emery and Kayden Porter

Yes it was a joke like I said I bleed blue a couple different shades now.

It was interesting to read what it means to be a booster. I think I want to be a booster when my business takes off.

It's a blast.

True story; As some know, I'm a 3rd generation supporter (booster) of UK. My 5yr old boy loves to color and has like a thousand crayons. One night he asked me to color with him and, while coloring, I asked him where all the red crayons were. His lip started trembling and he was silent .. I asked again, saying, "You have 50 boxes of crayons but NO red ones, where are they?"

His fists clinched and he started to tear up. He said, "Ethan (my 8yr old) told me that if I use red crayons that it means I like Louisville, and I HATE Louisville, so I threw them all away!"

aaaahhhh, good times ..

AHAHAHAHAHA. This guy's acting like AAU ball is Jr. Jazz. No, that's actually NOT how AAU ball works. It's usually All-Star teams, not your little neighborhood kids showing up. Your friend that is the fry cooker at your local Iowa McDonald's does not get to play at the Big tournaments. You know nothing. But thanks for your futurist predictions.

How much AAU ball have you played? I would really like to know.. I have played plenty, and ya any team can be an AAU team. They may not get invited to certain tournaments but, they pay to play in a lot of them. Trust me buddy.. I played on Magic Johnson's sponsored team in Iowa. The Magic 32's and we I know my fair share of AAU. Wtf is JR Jazz?? No need to personally insult me. I have played a **** ton of AAU. I know what I'm talking about. I could put money that my ACTUAL basketball resume is better than yours. I have no problem proving that. I feel like I have to defend myself with the BS personal comments. BTW I said I assumed that it was not a top 25 team. I was merely assuming since I haven't seen a top 25 AAU team from Utah. That being said I do see that their HS team is top 25. If they translated that team into an AAU team, that would make sense.

You are obviously not from the inter mountain area. Jr jazz is the largest sponsored youth basketball league in the USA. They have over 30k participants in 7 different states. It is a big deal for the kids.

I never heard of it either. I coached my sons 'summer league' team this year but it was called 'All-Star Hoops.' I am guessing Jr Jazz is not in St. George.

I'm sure you've said, but where you from? Iowa .. or just played on that team?? Thought I saw you mention Chi once.

Yes im from the Des Moines area, played against teams from Chicago when I played AAU. I'm pretty much done playing basketball now. I'm 22 and played JUCO in Iowa. I now am just a big fan of the game.

That's it? Nick would put 50 on your *** blindfolded.

Cool. Glad to have you here. Appreciate your contributions.

The reason I say you can sign up a rinky dink team for AAU is because my HS coach did it. He signed our HS team up for AAU and we were somewhat complete garbage. Where as with the Magic 32 Rim Rockers we had Gabe Knutson a stud at Lehigh now with CJ Mccollum. We also had Kirk Korver the youngest korver who plays at Creighton. We were pretty average and the coach was a nut so i eventually left the team. Plus the Magic sponsorship was weird. The shoes we got sucked, you can probably find them online now. They were just called magic 32's. But, they are most likely found out like a sears now. I'm pretty sure magic dropped the 15 teams he sponsored after the year i was there. Because his line got discontinued.

I don't disagree. But where your taking **** personal. I doubt you would.

Although I have played against much better than him, and I haven't seen anyone score that much on me. I never said he wasn't good. I just said it's not that impressive to score 30 in AAU games if the competition is weak. That is all. Plus have you seen the defense in those games? Most the time non existent. When you are playing your 4th game of the day then ya defense gets a little lazy for everyone.

Nick would not put up 50 on my college pro am team

Also don't sleep on jucos. They have some great talent. Some players just could not make the grades. Actually Salt Lake has a JUCO that won the national tournament when i played.

The AAU circuit has EVERY stud in America playing in it. Competition is fantastic. Having said that, there are, in fact, some awful/awful teams.

competition is hardly fantastic. that being said, when lone peak played national powers in the hs season they proved their worth and when emery gets a chance to go head-to-head with some of the nations best players this summer in vegas he will once again prove there aren't many if any scorers better than him.

Wow, the OP may be the whiniest estrogen-laden poster I've seen on this board in my week here. "Utah never gets any respect for the athletes we have in high school." What have these studs proven beyond Utah high school sports, sweetheart, to deserve such better respect?

That made me LOL

It's pretty interesting to me that that there are no Utah kids in the NBA right now. When I went to HS in Utah there were some pretty good players that were coming out. One of my best friends growing up before he moved to California was Scott Pollard (Kings). I played against Travis Knight (Alta HS) who went on to play for the Knicks and Lakers. Lived about 2 miles away from Travis Hanson who played for the Hawks for a few years. And played in a summer league game against Shawn Bradley.

I know that these guys ended up being NBA role players or never really made it in the league. But to say that there is no talent in Utah is not correct. There are a lot of kids there that can really play. They just don't get noticed as much because of were they live. I don't think Emery is going to be a NBA Allstar or even make it in the league. But the kid can play.

As for Porter though? Bryce Harper anyone. He could be pretty special

Emery's high school, lone peak, did finish ranked in the top 10 in the nation on at least one website i found. it's called maxpreps.com i'm not sure how legit it is but they're ranked 6th.
https://www.maxpreps.com/list/ranki...schoolid=e7badf59-379d-43cc-a875-938bdc607f2d
I also know this isn't the first time Lone Peak has finished in the top 25 in basketball. They're always extremely good for a Utah team and are usually pretty dang good for overall. Another ranking on the same site ranked them 24th, and that's a pretty big gap between 6 and 24 but at least their in the top 25 in both:

So for some reason my last post didn't show up. Basically, Emery's school, Lone Peak, is ranked pretty high nationally. At least at this site that I usually go to for rankings. I'm not sure how legit it is. One has them ranked 6th nationally and the other has them ranked 24th which is a pretty big difference. But maybe it's not since there's thousands of high schools out there. Anyways here's the link:

Also, from the same site, here is Lone Peak's schedule:
https://www.maxpreps.com/high-schools/lone-peak-knights-(highland,ut)/basketball/schedule.htm

They played in Chicago, New Orleans, South Carolina, and other places in the pre-season. Lone Peak is a fairly national program. This isn't the first time they've been ranked in the top 25 nationally, they're usually pretty dang good, especially for a Utah School. Also here is Emery's stats from his senior year:
