What about a sign and trade the Al or Sap for David Lee. Lee does have $44 million and 3 years left on his K but his stats of 18 points and 11 boards last season are nothing to sneeze at and we would get something for Sap and Al. They are both relatively young. It seems they've been around forever but the Trib says they're both 28.

Warriors Have Never Received Single Trade Call On David Lee
Jul 01, 2013 12:31 PM EDT

"The Los Angeles Lakers quickly rejected overtures from the Golden State Warriors about a David Lee for Pau Gasol trade last season.

The Lakers have been clearing salary from their cap for the 2014 offseason and Lee's deal runs through 15-16, while Gasol has one season remaining.

The Warriors are again trying to trade Lee this offseason, according to a report from Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Warriors have never received a call from another team about the availability of Lee as he's owed $44 million over the next three seasons. NBA teams are frequently in contact about strictly hypothetical trade scenarios to help gauge the value of their players."

Lee is very underrated.

--Better scorer than Jefferson.
--More versatile scorer than Jeff, spreads the floor
--Better passing big than Jefferson. 3.3 apg the last 4 seasons.
--Better rebounder than Jefferson.
--Better defender than Jefferson.
--Gets to the line over 4 times per game.

I would probably take David Lee over David West because you can actually run an offense through the facilitating Lee, and his defense is almost comparable when you subtract team weaknesses that don't show up in West's stats like they do Lee's.

I don't like any discussion about front court starters in this FA for the Jazz. Rotation players are all we need in the front court.

the only way I'd help them land Dwight is if they trade us both Lee & Barnes for Marvin.

Paying any more than 8 a year for any big other than an all star defeats the whole purpose of everything the Jazz FO have been saying. You supplement the young core with some vets to help develop them but paying that much for Lee traps us with no other options. I can't imagine any scenario where we even consider Lee as an option. If his salary were 50% of what it is he might be an option.

Lee was an All-Star this past season. I'm not advocating to get him but Lee was on their (at least KOC's) radar when he was a FA AND the only way I would take him, is if we get Barnes in return. His contract is for ~45M the next 3 years & it doesn't necessarily kill the team considering the team's books are "clean"

I might agree with passing. That's about it.

Lee is much like Al or Carlos. Great offensive numbers. but no defense. There's a reason No teams are talking about trading for him. Terrible contract that very well might impact the ability to keep Favors, Kanter, Hayward AND upgrade at other positions.

Oof. I assume you haven't seen any of Kirk Goldsberry's work.

Claiming Jefferson>Lee offense (or defense) just took ****ed up to a whole new meaning. Jefferson is the KING of empty stats.

You're being too generic with the typical D-Lee talking points.

Lee tries, and brings a whole lot more on the offensive end than both those guys. And his contract is pretty damn good for what he gives you. That SAS series would have been even closer if Lee was healthy since his way of spreading the floor would have made "call my bluff" even more difficult to defend.

This.

I'm curious as to why the Warriors would trade him. He was an All Star last year and is quite consistent. He along with Curry led that team back to the post-season. Unless they want Carl Landry as their starting PF.

Considering they played better with Landry and you could make an argument that Lee is the most toxic defensive player in the NBA, I think that pretty amply answers the question.
